Silk Charmeuse

Silk charmeuse records. A splash of water dries as a ring with a visible border, deodorant leaves a stiff patch by the second wearing, and the shoulder where a strap sat through one long dinner will tell you it sat there. It is also the only fibre that improves as the light gets worse, which is why the last hundred years of good evenings were photographed in it.

You like things that ask for care, because care is legible and being careful in public is a way of being seen. That is the sentence you will not enjoy: some of your standards are maintenance you pay someone else to do, and the dry cleaner on the corner knows more about your year than most of your friends do.
