Undercover Scab Years

You want the damage, and you want somebody else to have done it.

Early 2000s, one Tokyo studio, and a method rather than a look. Two garments cut apart and sewn back together as one. Damage put in on purpose, then finished as carefully as a lapel. A lining that hangs below the hem because it was never meant to hide. The spring collection everybody means when they name this era was called Scab, and the title was not decoration.

Here is the part that stings. Condition grading is close to meaningless on a garment designed to look ruined, so you are paying four figures for a report that cannot tell intended damage from a moth, and you have decided to be relaxed about that. The sizing was drawn for a smaller frame than yours, most likely, which is why you keep telling yourself a 2 will do. It will not do.

He never stopped working, which is the honest answer to all of it. The current line runs the same graft on better cloth, in a size you can wear, and it hangs in shops that will let you try it on. Buy the new blazer. Spend the archive money on one shirt from the years you love, and wear that.
