For Square boutiques on within
Your Square store on within.
within works with Square. Connect once, set up payouts, and keep managing items and stock in Square the way you do today. About ten minutes, start to finish.
Before you start
Three things on the counter and the whole setup fits in one sitting.
- The Square owner login.
The person who owns the Square account signs in. Staff logins cannot approve the connection.
- An email for the owner.
Sign-in links for your order counter and new-order alerts go there.
- Your bank details and a piece of ID.
Stripe pays you out, so it asks for your institution, transit and account numbers (a void cheque has all three) and a photo ID for the owner.
Shoppers pay inside within, so payouts are the one step that cannot wait: your shelf stays hidden until Stripe is ready to pay you.
Connect Square
One link. It works on a laptop or a phone.
- Open the link and choose I use Square.
Enter the owner email, then Continue to Square.
- Sign in to Square and choose Allow.
Square lists what within reads (items, stock, your business profile) and what it may change (stock for pieces sold on within).
- Watch the count.
You land on a page that says your store is connected and how many items synced. Every in-stock item with a price comes across.
Your items and stock stay in Square. within keeps them in sync, and puts the stock back if a within order is refunded.
Set up payouts
Required. Shoppers pay inside within and Stripe deposits your share straight to your bank.
- Choose Continue, set up payouts.
This opens the Get paid tab of your within counter with a Stripe form inside it.
- Fill in the Stripe form.
Business or personal details, the owner's ID, and the bank account for payouts. About five minutes.
- Come back to the counter.
The badge at the top changes from Hidden until payouts are active to Live on the marketplace once Stripe has what it needs.
Stripe holds the money, not within. Your payouts, statements and tax documents live in your own Stripe Express dashboard, one tap from the counter.
Your counter
Store settings, in your within counter. Only the phone is required; the rest makes pickups smoother. Then choose Go live.
- Store phone
- Required. Marketplace support uses it, and couriers do once delivery is on.
- Store hours
- Recommended. Shown to shoppers so they know when to collect.
- Pickup instructions
- Recommended. One line, such as: come to the register with the order name.
- Neighbourhood
- Recommended. The district shoppers know you by. It appears on your pieces.
- Pickup location
- Your Square location is on by default. Turn it off only if shoppers should not collect there.
- Storefront photo
- Nice to have. A well-lit photo of your room fronts your boutique card in the app.
- Shipping
- Optional. Set a flat rate and shoppers can have a piece shipped; you pack it and mark it shipped with the tracking number.
Bookmark your counter link from Store settings. It signs you in with one tap, so treat it like a password.
Orders
A within order, start to finish.
Never refund a within sale from your Square till. The counter has a Process a return box for that, and it puts the stock back for you.
Something missing?
Start with the badge at the top of your counter. It says whether shoppers can see you and what needs attention.
- The badge says Hidden until payouts are active.
- Finish the Stripe form in the Get paid tab. Your shelf appears the moment Stripe activates charges and payouts.
- The badge says Paused.
- Open the counter and choose Go live.
- An item is missing.
- In Square, the item needs a price, a photo, and inventory tracking turned on with stock above zero at your location.
- The stock looks wrong.
- within follows Square. Fix the count in Square and it updates on within within a minute.
- Square asks you to reconnect.
- The counter shows a Reconnect Square card. Sign in once more and everything resumes.

Quick answers
- Do within orders show up in my Square Dashboard?
- No. Orders live on your within counter, so Square never charges a fee or double-counts a sale. Your Square stock still moves with every within order, and comes back if the order is refunded.
- Do I need a new workflow?
- Keep managing items and stock in Square. Orders come by email and sit on the counter, one tap to mark ready.
- What does it cost?
- Nothing monthly. within keeps a commission on each sale it brings you; the rate is shown in your counter before your first sale. Card processing comes out of the sale, the same as your own checkout.
- How do refunds work?
- From the counter, never from your Square till. The shopper shows a code from their within order, you look it up and refund it. Stock returns to Square.
- Can I pause my store?
- Yes. Pause from Store settings. Your items keep syncing until you go live again.
- Can shoppers get delivery?
- Pickup at your counter, always. Shipping is yours to switch on: in Store settings, set a flat rate and shoppers can have a piece shipped. You pack it, mark it shipped on the Orders tab with the tracking number, and the rate is paid out to you with the sale. Courier delivery within the hour is coming; your counter will say when it is on.
