Depop Canada fees, shipping and local price checks
Depop Canada buyers get no Depop Protection and sellers pay a 10% fee. Compare a listing with dated Toronto boutique asking prices and terms.

Depop Protection for buyers covers the UK, the US and Australia. Canada is not on the list, read from Depop's own help centre on 11 September 2026.
That is the first thing to know before you buy from Canada. The second is the local price reference: the Toronto resale index counted 1,419 listings with a stated resale condition on 11 September 2026, at a CAD 400 median asking price. It does not tell you what the same piece costs on Depop.
This guide uses five checks: the item, its condition, the total, delivery and the return terms. Canadians can buy and sell on Depop. Sellers outside the UK, US and Australia are on a separate fee table, and buyers outside those three countries are outside the protection programme (source: depophelp.zendesk.com, read 11 September 2026).
depop canada and the full cost
Start with the amount you can spend on the whole order. Keep the listing price separate from shipping and any charge shown later. A saved screenshot of the final checkout gives you a total to compare with another seller.
Write down the currency beside every amount. A number without CAD or another currency leaves the comparison unfinished. Use the amount your payment screen shows before agreeing to pay.
Depop's fee page, read 11 September 2026, puts sellers outside the UK, US and Australia on a 10% selling fee. It is charged on the item price before tax, plus the shipping cost when the seller did not use a Depop label, and the seller also pays PayPal's processing fee. The Marketplace fee charged to buyers applies to purchases in GBP, USD and AUD, so a Canadian buyer paying in CAD is not named on that page.
Tax is the other line. For a sale within Canada, Depop collects GST or HST at checkout, plus the provincial tax in Quebec, Saskatchewan, British Columbia and Manitoba. For an item shipped in from outside Canada, Depop charges no GST or HST at checkout, and the buyer can be charged GST and the provincial tax on delivery (source: depophelp.zendesk.com, Will I have to pay for tax or customs on my order, read 11 September 2026).
| Check | What to record | What makes the comparison useful | |---|---|---| | Item | Full name and size | Both listings describe the same piece | | Condition | Wear, repairs and missing parts | The photos support the description | | Price | Amount and currency | The currency is stated beside the amount | | Delivery | Charge and destination | The quote applies to your postal code | | Returns | Written terms | You know what happens if the fit is wrong |
Save the listing before it changes. Include the description and the photos that affected your choice. Keep questions about damage in the same order conversation so you can find the replies later.
poshmark canada as a comparison
Compare one saved Depop listing with one Poshmark listing before comparing whole sites. Pick an item you can identify from its label, colour and measurements. If the pieces differ, write down the difference beside the price.
Poshmark Canada's own page, read 11 September 2026, says every order ships by Canada Post on a prepaid label, and that Posh Protect refunds you if the item is not what you ordered. The page prints no shipping amount and no seller fee, so take those two figures from your own checkout screen (source: poshmark.ca).
For a shirt, request its width laid flat and its length. Compare those measurements with a shirt you already wear. A label size alone leaves you without the dimensions of the actual item.
For shoes, ask for photos of both soles and both heels. Include the size label and any damage inside the shoe. Decide whether a missing box matters to you before using another listing as a price reference.

thrift stores online canada and local prices
The September index separates its resale listings from the full catalog. Its reading on 11 September counted 4,641 listings at a CAD 400 median ask. The resale group of 1,419 also had a CAD 400 median, but these are separate groups.
For sneakers, the same reading counted 611 resale listings at a CAD 300 median. All 1,525 sneaker listings had a CAD 350 median. Neither figure is a quote for a particular size or release.
Use the Toronto resale index to understand the sample, then open the pre owned sneaker shelf for individual listings. The figures above describe 11 September, so check each listing again before buying.
A thrift search and a designer resale search can lead to different types of item. Decide whether you want a specific label or simply a piece within your budget. That choice makes the comparison more useful than a list of service names.
Compare the total for the same piece in the same condition.
Delivery and returns before paying
Ask for a delivery quote to your postal code and a dispatch estimate. Treat the two as separate details. A seller outside the US and UK ships by a method of their own choosing, and Depop tells them to use a tracked service and to add the tracking number in the app. Depop's guide also says most sellers ship within 2 days (source: depophelp.zendesk.com, How to ship, Worldwide, read 11 September 2026).
Read the return terms before sending a size question. Depop Protection for buyers refunds an item that never arrives, arrives damaged or is significantly not as described, reported within 30 days of purchase, and it excludes payment made outside the app. The programme is available to buyers in the UK, US and Australia, so a Canadian buyer is relying on the seller and on the card issuer instead (source: depophelp.zendesk.com, Depop Protection for buyers, read 11 September 2026).
The local comparison has specific terms. Utopia's policy, read again on 11 September 2026, states that all sales are final, with no returns or exchanges. WDLT117 allows exchange or store credit on eligible pieces within 14 days of delivery or in store purchase, and the customer pays return shipping.
WDLT117 excludes pieces discounted by half or more, Last Piece promotions and jewellery, among other listed categories. Read the Utopia return policy or WDLT117 return policy for the shop attached to your comparison. A lower price deserves the same care about fit.
