The two New York shops

Blue in Green is the denim one. It has sold Japanese selvedge from 8 Greene Street in SoHo since 2006. On 20 September 2026 it held 120 Kapital pieces, $35 to $2,535, median $474.

It opens noon to 8pm Monday to Saturday and noon to 7pm on Sunday.

That median is the highest of any shop we read outside London. It is a denim shop, so the jeans and the heavy jackets pull it up.

Love Adorned is cheaper and broader. At 269 Elizabeth Street it held 67 pieces at a $160 median, open daily noon to 7pm. Lori Leven founded it, and the Kapital there runs to bandanas, socks and small goods rather than denim.

What the jeans actually cost

The spread is wide because Kapital counts a bandana and a boro jacket as one piece each.

Kapital has been a company since March 1985, based at Kojima in Kurashiki, Okayama. Its own site names four sewing plants and a dye works it runs, and publishes no prices at all.

Across all 16 shops on 20 September 2026 the American median was $423. The floor was $30, at Love Adorned. The ceiling was $2,695, at two Los Angeles shops.

Glasswing in Seattle held the most anywhere: 127 pieces, $35 to $2,695, median $412. Blue in Green was second with 120.

London has two. Couverture and The Garbstore held 70 at a GBP 237 median, Mouki Mou held 40 at GBP 312. Peggs and Son in Brighton held 16 at a GBP 38 median, which is the cheapest median on our whole reading.

Los Angeles has three. Union Los Angeles held 51, Bodega held 49 and H. Lorenzo held 25.

Jinji in Paris held 44 at a EUR 138 median. Sui Generis in San Francisco held 11 second hand pieces from $136.

Before you buy

Kapital sizes are Japanese and run small. A Kapital 2 is not a Western medium in every cut, and the shops above will give you the flat measurements if you ask.

The patchwork and boro pieces are made from joined panels, so two of the same style will not match. Ask for photographs of the actual piece rather than the stock image.
