SoHo shopping in NYC: the boutiques street by street
Seven independent SoHo boutiques with checked addresses and published hours, on Grand, Greene, Thompson, Canal, Broadway and West Broadway.

Seven independent boutiques in SoHo carry an address we checked against the shop itself, between 27 August and 2 September 2026. They stand on six streets. Four of them publish the year they opened, and the oldest of those is 1978.
Broadway between Houston and Canal is chain retail. Every shop below sits one block east or west of it, which is the whole trick to shopping SoHo.
Every address is on the SoHo page of our New York directory, with the day it was last checked.
Grand Street holds the two heavyweights
IF Soho New York, 94 Grand Street, between Greene and Mercer. Three siblings, Jeannette Bird, Johnny Farah and Soha Farah, founded it in 1978 and moved it here in the early nineties. Yohji Yamamoto, Comme des Garçons, Junya Watanabe, Rick Owens, Ann Demeulemeester, Guidi. Eleven to seven Monday to Saturday, twelve to half six on Sunday.
Stòffa, 125 Grand Street. Outerwear, trousers, scarves and hats, all its own production, sold ready made and made to measure. Walk ins are welcome for the rack and the made to measure service needs an appointment.
Stòffa is the one address here that its own site does not publish: the "visit our store" page is blank, so we are printing the address Google Places confirmed rather than the shop's. The site gives its made to measure lead time as five weeks on one page and six on another. Ring first.
Greene Street and Thompson Street
Blue in Green, 8 Greene Street. Japanese selvedge denim since 2006, and now Kapital, Needles, Engineered Garments, orSlow, Buzz Rickson's and about eighty more. Twelve to eight Monday to Saturday, twelve to seven on Sunday, which is the longest day in SoHo. There is a chainstitch hemming service in the shop.
Silver Lining Opticians, 92 Thompson Street. Frames only, since 2007: Masunaga, Eyevan 7285, l.a. Eyeworks, Factory 900. The shop's own line about what it will not stock is no fake rivets, no spring hinges and no fashion licences.
Eleven to six Monday to Saturday, twelve to five on Sunday, walk ins welcome.
One optician on Thompson Street turns away every licensed frame in the building, and has done since 2007.
Broadway, West Broadway and Canal
The Vintage Twin, 597 Broadway, between Prince and Houston. Vintage denim, sweatshirts, leather and y2k, with a Jeanius Bar where staff pick a pair of vintage jeans for you. Half eleven to seven on weekdays, eleven to seven on Saturday, eleven to six on Sunday.
What Goes Around Comes Around, 351 West Broadway. Seth Weisser and Gerard Maione founded it in 1993 and it sells pre owned luxury and vintage: Chanel, Hermès, Goyard, Chrome Hearts, Rolex. Eleven to seven Monday to Saturday, twelve to six on Sunday.
The Brooklyn Circus, 361 Canal Street. Tailored casual menswear, and a house brand rather than a multi brand room. Its own site publishes no hours and its contact page is broken, so email ahead.

What to check before you go
Two of the seven publish no hours at all: Stòffa and The Brooklyn Circus. Everything else opens by noon, seven days.
Two of the seven have a second New York shop that is easy to walk into by mistake. The Vintage Twin has a store at 69 Orchard Street on the Lower East Side, with different hours. What Goes Around Comes Around has a second SoHo room at 113 Wooster Street, four blocks from the West Broadway one.
Start at 125 Grand and work west, then turn north on West Broadway. That puts the two menswear rooms first, the luxury resale floor in the middle, and Broadway last, because Broadway is where the crowd is.
For the rest of the city, the New York directory lists all 82 shops by neighbourhood, and New York's independent boutiques, sorted by what they actually buy is the longer read.
Where are the SoHo boutiques?
Seven independent shops on our list sit on Grand, Greene, Thompson, Canal, Broadway and West Broadway. Two of them, IF Soho New York at 94 Grand and Stòffa at 125 Grand, are on the same street. The rest are a five minute walk apart.
Is there good shopping in SoHo, or is it all chains now?
Both are true on the same streets. Broadway between Houston and Canal is chain retail, and the independent rooms sit one block east or west of it on Grand, Greene, Thompson and West Broadway.
Which SoHo clothing stores are independent?
Blue in Green, IF Soho New York, Stòffa, The Brooklyn Circus, The Vintage Twin and What Goes Around Comes Around all sell clothing and none of them is a chain. Silver Lining Opticians is the seventh shop on our list and sells frames.
Are there sneaker stores in SoHo?
Not on our list. The one sneaker room we have checked in Manhattan is Extra Butter at 125 Orchard Street on the Lower East Side.
Seven shops, six streets, and every address was standing on 2 September 2026.
Every business above is independent, was verified open as of August 2026, and nobody paid to be here. If one has closed or moved, tell us at hello@shopwithin.co and we will fix it.
within opens October 1, Toronto and New York first, with the cities in this journal to follow. The waiting list is open in every one of them.
