Orchard Street, four shops in three blocks

Extra Butter at 125 Orchard Street is the biggest. It held 1,416 pieces across 82 labels on 20 September 2026, $16 to $1,937, median $130. Twenty six of those were Arc'teryx and seven were Stone Island.

It has traded since 2007 and opens 11am to 7pm Monday to Saturday, noon to 6pm Sunday. The sneakers are the draw and the outerwear is the reason to go back.

Pilgrim New York at 70 Orchard Street held 1,034 pieces across 150 labels, $90 to $950, median $250. Brian Bennett and Richard Ives started it in Woodstock in 2006 and moved it to the city in 2007. It is closed Mondays and opens noon to 5pm otherwise.

The Cast at 72 Orchard Street is next door and cheaper, with a $75 median across 320 pieces. Desert Vintage at 34 Orchard Street is the opposite end. It held 296 pieces at a $998 median, topping out at $16,800, and opens 11am to 7pm seven days.

Ludlow Street and Delancey

Assembly New York at 170 Ludlow Street held 932 pieces across 124 labels, $1 to $2,857, median $268. Greg Armas opened it in 2008 and it trades 11am to 7pm daily.

Its own label accounts for 166 of those pieces. After that the deepest shelves are Our Legacy with 26, Jungmaven with 26, Gabriela Coll Garments with 22 and Comme des Garcons with 21.

Cafe Forgot at 29 Ludlow Street held 220 pieces from 46 labels, median $160. It sells young designers on consignment and the stock turns fast.

Procell at 5 Delancey Street runs no web shop, so we hold no count for it. It trades in band and graphic archive, and its only public page is an Instagram account.

What the neighbourhood is actually for

The Lower East Side is not where the current season lands. For that, La Garconne in Tribeca or Bond Street is the answer.

What it holds is archive, consignment and small labels. Across the seven shops we counted 391 distinct labels on 20 September 2026, which is more than any other New York neighbourhood on our reading.

Two more sell clothes here and run no web shop we can count. Coming Soon at 53 Canal Street has traded since 2013. Edith Machinist at 104 Rivington Street opens 1pm to 6pm Tuesday to Saturday and closes Mondays.

How to walk it

Start at Delancey and work north up Orchard. Procell, then Desert Vintage, then The Cast and Pilgrim facing each other, then Extra Butter. That is about eight minutes of walking and two hours of looking.

Cut west on Broome to Ludlow for Cafe Forgot and Assembly New York. Most open at noon, so there is no reason to arrive before then.
