Do LV Trainers run big? Louis Vuitton sneaker sizing

Resale sellers go a step further than the chart. On 1 November 2026, Utopia titled a pre owned LV Trainer in LV 7.5 as US 9. Two other pre owned LV sneakers in LV 7.5 carried the same title.

Why the LV number confuses people

Men's Louis Vuitton shoes are labelled in LV sizing, which follows the UK scale. Size.ly's chart, built on Louis Vuitton's own conversions, puts an LV 6 at US 7, an LV 7 at US 8 and an LV 9 at US 10.

So if you are a US 9 and you click "9" on a Louis Vuitton size selector, you have ordered about a US 10. That one mistake explains a lot of the complaints that they run huge.

Women's styles are in EU sizes, and Size.ly's Louis Vuitton chart differs from some generic charts. Size.ly notes that a women's EU 38 is a US 7 on Louis Vuitton's guide, where many charts say 7.5 or 8.

Read the marked LV size first, then compare measurements rather than trusting a resale title.

Do LV Trainers run big?

They run a little large. The Trainer has a bold, padded shape that feels roomier than slimmer designer sneakers.

Value Creation's LV size guide says it plainly: the Trainer runs large, so size down. It adds that when Louis Vuitton's own product page says a style runs large, following that note is the safer choice.

The resale labels show the problem. In the boutique's resale listings on 1 November 2026, a Virgil Monogram green pair was titled LV 7.5 / US 9. A white and green pair was LV 7 / 8.5M, and an Upcycle Soho pair was LV 10 / US 11 to 11.5.

Those are seller labels, not a controlled fit test. Ask for a photograph of the marked size and do not use the title alone to prove a conversion.

In practice, take your US size and subtract one for the LV number. Then go half a size lower in the Trainer if your foot is average or narrow. Value Creation warns against sizing down too far with wide feet or thick socks, so stay at the straight conversion then.

LV Trainer, Trainer Maxi and LV Skate

The Trainer Maxi is the chunkier version of the Trainer. None of the guides we read gives the Maxi its own fit note, so check the insole length on a resale pair.

The LV Skate fits closer to true size, with a roomier toe box than the Trainer, per Value Creation's guide. Narrow feet can go half a size down. Formal shoes and loafers feel narrower than the sneakers, so do not carry a Trainer size over to a Monte Carlo moccasin.

How a pre owned pair changes the fit

Padded collars, removable insoles and thicker soles all change how a sneaker feels, per Value Creation. A pre owned pair may also have softened, stretched or moulded slightly with wear, so it may not feel exactly like a new one.

Before you buy resale, ask for the marked LV size and the insole length in centimetres. Photos of the sole, heel, toe box and interior help too, and on sneakers Value Creation says to look at heel drag, sole wear and creasing.

What LV Trainers cost in the shelf snapshot

On 1 November 2026, the Louis Vuitton shelf held 71 pieces at the boutique, and 27 were shoes. Fifteen adult listings were LV Trainers or Trainer Maxis, from CAD 500 to 2,000, and every shoe was final sale.

The lowest Trainer on the shelf was the yellow and white monogram pair at CAD 500 in US 10. For the Skate, a green and white pair labelled LV 9.5 / 11M asked CAD 1,340.
