Do Purple Brand jeans run small? Sizing by style

The P001 drives most sizing complaints. A buyer on Reddit in 2023 found Purples "way too small and skinny".

Another, in a 2024 thread, put it plainly: "P001 are skinny size and P002 are slim fit size, their jeans are true to size." A third, in the same thread: "Gotta size up on P001s."

How the chart reads

The number on the tag is a waist size, and Purple gives each one a two inch band.

A size 28 fits a 29 to 31 inch waist. A 36 fits 37 to 39. A 40 fits 41 to 43.

The bands overlap. A 34 inch waist sits inside both the 32 and the 33. If you sit at the top of a band, take the next size in a rigid pair and your usual size in a stretch pair.

Measure a pair you already own lying flat, then check it against the product page. Purple says every pair is finished by hand, with its own wash, so two pairs of the same size can feel a little different.

Style by style

P001. The low rise skinny. This is the pair behind most "too small" reports, and the one where going up a size is the common advice.

P002. Buyers describe it as the slim fit, a little looser than the P001. It is not among the fits on Purple's site on 15 October 2026, but it still turns up on resale shelves.

P004. Low rise, slim through the thigh, flared at the hem. It has 2% elastane, so your usual size is the place to start.

P005 and P011. Mid rise, slim straight and straight. The P005 has stretch, while some P011 pairs are 100% cotton and give less at the waist.

P018. Mid rise and baggy, in 100% cotton. The room is in the leg, not the waist, so the chart number still matters.

Stretch changes the answer

A stretch pair with 1% or 2% elastane eases with wear. A 100% cotton pair holds its size at the waist. Reports do run both ways, though: one owner in 2024 said a couple of pairs came out "big".

If you are between sizes, pick the smaller one in stretch and the larger one in rigid denim.

What a pair costs

On Purple's own site the pairs read on 15 October 2026 ran US$265 to US$395, from the P004 to the P018.

On within, the Purple Brand jeans shelf held 24 pairs at CA$165 to CA$383 across Due West, Outlined and Utopia, in waists from W30 to W40. A P005 Heavy Destroyed pair was CA$383 and a P001 Black Wash was CA$250.

Purple Brand fits true to the chart across most of the line. The P001 skinny is the exception, where buyers go up one size.

Do Purple Brand jeans stretch?

Most styles carry 1% or 2% elastane. The P018 and some P011 pairs are 100% cotton and do not stretch.
