Rick Owens Ramones vs Geobaskets: which one to buy

Utopia in Yorkville held six Ramone styles that day. They ran from a milk pair, new without its box, at CAD 700 (USD 496) to a pale blue Porterville at CAD 1,300 (USD 921). The Rick Owens sneakers page has them all.

It held two Geobaskets, both pre owned and both listed as a size 13. New from Rick Owens the gap is bigger, about USD 515 between a denim high top and the leather Geobasket.

Ramones and Geobaskets, side by side

Both soles are the same height, so the difference you see is up top. The Geobasket's tongue and panels are the whole point of it, and I find the plainer Ramone goes with more clothes.

The brand does not use the name Ramones

Rick Owens' own store showed no product called Ramones when I searched it on 8 November 2026. Its DRKSHDW high top, with eight eyelets, an inside zip, toe caps and shark tooth soles, is sold as Sneaks. Boutiques and resale sellers still write Ramone, so this note does too.

Hypebeast's newsroom wrote up printed DRKSHDW Ramones in waxed canvas on 24 January 2014, so the name has been around a long time.

As for the name, Robb Report's Mimi Lombardo, writing on 2 October 2024, ties it to a story about the punk band. It runs to a cease and desist letter from Linda Ramone, and the article says Owens' press team neither confirmed nor denied it.

Which Ramones to buy

Each pair below is the last one, so size decides for you. The size is the one on the listing.

• The Ramone jumbo laced low in black is pre owned, US 7.5, CAD 900.

If you are a US 8, the milk pair at CAD 700 is the one I would take. It is CAD 265 under the brand's denim Sneaks in Canada.

The sole is the same height. You are paying for the tongue.

When the Geobasket is the right one

Buy it if the long tongue is the reason you searched. Nothing else in the Rick Owens line looks like it, and the design has been around since Pitti Uomo in 2006, per that same Robb Report article.

On the shelf are a black Mega Bumper pair for CAD 1,000 and a pink pony hair pair for CAD 1,400. A listing that says 13 can mean a UK 13, which is a US 14 on the brand's chart, so ask what the insole says.
