The Y2K jeans to buy new are Diesel's numbered jeans, from CAD 239. On 27 October 2026, True Religion and Baby Phat released a collaboration, fronted by Love Island USA stars Aniya Harvey and Kayda Bosse, where every bottom is low rise. Y2K is really two lists, and most guides only give you the first.

List one is the names on every nostalgia page: Von Dutch and Ed Hardy, Juicy Couture with its velour tracksuits, and Baby Phat with its rhinestone cat logo. Those are fine for a thrift hunt, and I would skip paying new retail just for the stamp.

List two is what a boutique rack holds: Diesel's low waist bootcuts, a Louis Vuitton Murakami pouch, a Dior Saddle and BAPE. That is the list to buy from.

Quick facts

  • On within: 88 items in the Y2K outfits edit, plus 58 BAPE items and 49 Diesel items on the shelf, read 8 November 2026.
  • New Diesel denim: the 2007 Zatiny low waist bootcut starts at CAD 249, and the 2010 D-Macs, a regular waist straight leg, starts at CAD 239.
  • Resale logo bags: CAD 400 to CAD 1,000 for Louis Vuitton Murakami small leather goods and CAD 2,400 for a Dior mini Saddle.
  • Tokyo streetwear: BAPE runs CAD 50 to CAD 1,000 with a CAD 120 median, from a Harajuku label founded in 1993.
  • Brand group deals: Liz Claiborne bought Juicy Couture in 2003, Christian Audigier licensed Ed Hardy in 2005, and WSG bought Von Dutch in 2024.
  • Diesel: 49 items from CAD 55 to CAD 1,750, median CAD 225.

The labels on every list

Von Dutch is named after the pinstriper Kenny Howard, who died in 1992. Christian Audigier popularised it in the early 2000s, and it went to Groupe Royer in 2009 and WSG in 2024. Audigier also licensed Ed Hardy in 2005 from tattoo artist Don Ed Hardy, who keeps a 15 percent stake under owner Iconix Brand Group.

Pamela Skaist-Levy and Gela Nash-Taylor founded Juicy Couture in 1997 on velour tracksuits. It was sold to Liz Claiborne in 2003, and Authentic Brands Group is its parent now. Baby Phat began in 1999 with low rise jeans and a rhinestone cat logo, and Kimora Lee Simmons relaunched it in December 2019.

They were real labels, and they are licences or relaunches now, so buying new buys a logo and the originals belong on a thrift hunt.

In boutiques, True Religion turns up via Supreme's FW25 woodland camo zip up hoodie at CAD 500 lightly used in size L and CAD 800 in size S. At CAD 500 to CAD 800 for a camo zip up hoodie, you are paying Supreme collector prices rather than early 2000s denim money.

Diesel still sells the low rise

Start with the denim. Renzo Rosso founded Diesel in 1978 in Molvena, Italy, and its fit guide still names jeans with a year and a word. If you want a 2000s jean new off a hanger rather than dug out of a thrift bin, men's Diesel is the buy.

At Due West on 431 Queen Street West in Toronto, 49 Diesel items run from CAD 55 to CAD 1,750 around a CAD 225 median. You can buy the light blue 2007 Zatiny for CAD 249 or the black Zatiny for CAD 250, with black grey and mid blue at CAD 350. The listing says it is a low waist bootcut in 99 percent cotton and 1 percent elastane.

The mid blue at CAD 350 costs more than the light blue at CAD 249 for the same low waist bootcut, so all you are paying for is the wash.

The 1998 D-Buck jeans in light blue are CAD 265. If low rise is not for you, the 2010 D-Macs in light blue are a looser straight leg with a regular waist at CAD 239.

The logo bags are the real thing, and they are resale

Takashi Murakami partnered with Louis Vuitton in 2002 under Marc Jacobs, printing the Monogram Multicolore in 33 colours for Spring Summer 2003. Nicolas Ghesquière phased it out in 2015, per Aurélie Vassy's 8 April 2026 note at Sotheby's. At Utopia in Yorkville, Toronto, a white multicolored Murakami key pouch costs CAD 1,000 next to a white Murakami Sarah wallet at CAD 400.

Under women's Dior, Galliano debuted the Saddle bag for Spring Summer 2000 before nostalgia revived it in 2018, notes London resale shop Sign of the Times. An Oblique black mini Saddle bag goes for CAD 2,400.

Buy the jeans new and the logo bags used.

The Sarah wallet is listed as pre owned and the mini Saddle as lightly used, so read each listing before you pay.

BAPE, the Tokyo side

Nigo started A Bathing Ape in Harajuku in 1993 and sold the first shark hoodie in 2004, per our Japanese designer brands note. Across Utopia and Outlined in Etobicoke, 58 items from BAPE on within run CAD 50 to CAD 1,000 with a CAD 120 median.

That CAD 120 median puts Tokyo streetwear well under bag prices, with tried on burgundy BAPE Shark slim sweatpants at CAD 150. A pre owned black Bape x OVO pullover hoodie in size XL sits at CAD 200.

And 27 October 2026 said the look is not done, when True Religion and Baby Phat put an all low rise collaboration on a runway in Van Nuys.

Common questions

What is Y2K clothing?

Y2K clothing covers styles from the late 1990s and early 2000s, named after the year 2000 computer bug before widening in the 2020s. You can browse the 88 items in the Y2K outfits edit on within.

Is Y2K fashion still popular?

Yes, True Religion and Baby Phat released a joint low rise collection on 27 October 2026 with a Los Angeles runway show. On resale shelves, a lightly used Dior mini Saddle bag sits at CAD 2,400 and a Murakami key pouch is listed at CAD 1,000.

What did guys wear in Y2K?

Guys wore labels like Von Dutch, Ed Hardy and Mossimo, which GQ Australia named in 2023 among the menswear brands that mattered. BAPE's shark hoodie went on sale in 2004. If you want that cut new, Diesel's 2007 Zatiny bootcut starts at CAD 249.
