Christian Dior founded Dior in Paris on 16 December 1946, at 30 Avenue Montaigne. His first collection, shown on 12 February 1947, paired a small nipped waist with a full skirt falling below mid calf. Carmel Snow of Harper's Bazaar called it a New Look, and the name stuck. In 1967 Marc Bohan created the Dior Oblique, the four letters of the name tilted and repeated in a jacquard for accessories and leather goods. John Galliano showed the Saddle bag for spring 2000. Dior clothing is made by Christian Dior Couture, part of LVMH. Kim Jones led menswear from 2018 to 2025, and Jonathan Anderson took it over in April 2025. On 2 June 2025 Dior made Anderson creative director of its women's and couture lines too.
