Import duty calculator for the US, Canada and the UK
A clothing parcel pays duty in the US from the first dollar, in Canada above CAD $20 to $150, and in the UK above £135. The US charges 1.2 to 32 per cent, plus 10 or 12.5 per cent on goods from 60 countries; Canada 17 or 18 per cent, plus GST or HST. The UK charges 12 per cent on most clothes and 20 per cent VAT on every order.
Pick where the piece is going, then the price, what it is, where it was made and where it ships from. Each country has its own page with the rules, worked examples and sources.
Rules read on 10 October 2026 from the official sources on each country's page.
By country
- Import duty to Canada: Clothes shipped to Canada pay 17 or 18 per cent duty plus 5 to 15 per cent GST or HST. Pieces made and bought in a trade deal country, like the US or Italy, pay no duty.
- Import duty to the US: No parcel comes into the US duty free by value any more: clothes, shoes and bags pay 1.2 to 32 per cent. Goods from 60 countries add 10 or 12.5 per cent since 24 July 2026.
- Import duty to the UK: An order of £135 or less pays no UK duty, and the seller adds 20 per cent VAT at checkout. Above £135 you pay duty, 12 per cent on most clothes unless it came from a trade deal partner, and 20 per cent VAT on the goods, postage and duty.
