- Lock & Co. says North American sizes run an eighth of an inch larger than UK sizes. A 57 cm head is a UK 7 and a US 7 1/8.

How to measure at home
- Use a soft tape measure. A piece of string and a ruler work too.
- Wrap it around your head across the middle of your forehead, about half an inch above your eyebrows and ears. That is where the hat sits.
- Keep the tape flat and snug, but not tight.
- Read the length in centimetres or inches and find it in the table.
- If you fall between two sizes, New Era says to go up. For a flat cap, Lock & Co. suggests one size up.

What hat size is 58 cm?
A US 7 1/4 and a UK 7 1/8 on Lock & Co.'s chart. That is 22 7/8 inches. Village Hat Shop calls a 58 cm head a Large.
Is a US hat size the same as a UK hat size?
No. Lock & Co. says North American sizes run an eighth larger. A 57 cm head is a UK 7 and a US 7 1/8.
What size head fits a New Era 7 1/4 fitted cap?

What is the average hat size?
Lock & Co. says the average is 57 cm, a Medium, for women and 59 cm, a Large, for men.
