- Mr Porter's guide says a US or UK suit size is the chest in inches. A European size is half the chest in cm. To go from US or UK to European, it says to add 10.
- Mr Porter's chart for a Brunello Cucinelli jacket lists Italian sizes as the same numbers as EU sizes: an Italian 50 is an EU 50 and a 40 chest.
- A suit's trousers are usually 6 inches smaller than the jacket. Mr Porter calls this a drop six, and Suitsupply's chart pairs a 40 jacket with 34 trousers.

What is a 40 suit in European sizes?
An EU 50. Suitsupply's chart puts a US or UK 40 jacket at EU 50, letter M/L, with 34 trousers. Mr Porter gives the same rule: add 10.
What is an Italian 50 suit in US sizes?
A 40. Mr Porter's chart for a Brunello Cucinelli suit jacket lists an Italian 50 as an EU 50 and a US or UK 40 chest.
What do S and L mean after a suit size?
Short and Long. Suitsupply cuts its Regular jackets for people 168 to 186 cm tall, its Long jackets for taller people and its Short jackets for shorter people.
