Which Canada Goose vest should you buy?

Each Canada Goose product page names its own fill, shell and fit. Five product records informed this comparison. The men's Freestyle and Crofton addresses redirected to the homepage on the evening recheck, so confirm those current specs and prices with Canada Goose.

The Freestyle is the classic, and my pick for most people. Its shell is Arctic Tech, 84% polyester and 16% cotton with a water repellent finish. Canada Goose says the fabric develops a patina over time.

The down is 625 fill, an 80/20 mix of down to feather. It is the boxier look, the one you see over a hoodie.

The Crofton is the lighter, sleeker option. It carries 750 fill at a 90/10 mix, in a 100% nylon ripstop with a shiny cire finish. Higher fill power means more loft per gram, so it feels warm without bulk.

The Lodge packs into its own chest pocket and goes in the washing machine. It also uses 750 fill and fits true to size.

The Cypress is a women's vest in a light ripstop shell: 750 fill, regular fit, USD 595.

Every vest in this lineup carries the same warmth rating. The real choice is fit and shell, not heat.

Canada Goose vests in the dated shelf snapshot

On 7 November 2026, six Canada Goose vests sat on the Canada Goose shelf. Four are women's Freestyle vests at Due West, all marked down:

• Lite Vest Freestyle in Black, CAD 545, was 650, XS to XL.
• Heritage camo at CAD 495, was 695, XS to L.
• A royal blue Heritage, also CAD 495, was 700, one XS left.
• Freestyle Hybridge in Classic Camo Silverbirch, CAD 545, was 695, S to L.

Two more are brand new at Utopia in Yorkville, each a single size S. One is a Cypress Vest in Black at CAD 400. The other is a Freestyle Vest in Red at CAD 500.

The red one is the vest I would grab first. Red down reads from across a street, and a vest shows the colour without a full coat of it.

Do Canada Goose vests run small?

Some do, and the brand is blunt about it. The Crofton is tagged slim, with the line "This item runs small." Size up one.

The men's Freestyle Crew is tagged relaxed. Canada Goose says take your true size for that relaxed fit, or size down for a closer one.

The women's Freestyle is the trap. Its page tags it relaxed, then says "This product runs small" and tells you to size up. Due West, a stockist, lists the same women's Freestyle line as slim fit at hip length.

How warm is a Canada Goose vest?

Canada Goose rates warmth on its Thermal Experience Index. Level 1 covers 5C to minus 5C. Level 3 covers minus 10C to minus 20C, and level 5 is minus 30C and below.

Every vest above is level 1. A vest keeps your core warm and leaves your arms out, so it is a layer, not a winter coat. Below minus 5C it belongs under a shell or over a heavy knit.

What the vest is becoming

My read: the vest now works as a city layer, worn over a hoodie or under an open overcoat. I think the boxy Freestyle carries that look better than the slim Crofton.
