Is Canada Goose worth it? For the parka, not the sweater
Canada Goose is worth it for a down parka the brand covers for its lifetime, and not for a knit it covers for 2 years.

Canada Goose is worth it for a down parka, covered for its lifetime, and not for a knit, covered for 2 years. If you have a parka open in one tab and a logo sweater in the other, close the sweater. The jackets and coats run CAD 395 to 1,795 at Canada Goose jackets and parkas.

On 20 September 2026, a reader on the Canada Goose forum on Reddit asked if a 2021 Chateau Parka still had the same down fill and construction. Generations, the brand's own resale site, has an answer in dollars. On 9 October 2026 it asked USD 1,068 for a Chateau Parka with Hood Trim in Excellent condition, 70 percent of its USD 1,525 new price.
The brand backs a parka and a knit differently. Its warranty covers defects in insulated outerwear for the lifetime of the product, and a later owner keeps that cover when the coat is traceable. Knitwear gets two years, with the receipt.
Quick facts
- The warranty: lifetime of the product for insulated outerwear, 2 years with the receipt for knitwear
- Resale on Generations: 70 percent of new asked for 3 pieces in Excellent condition, 49 percent for 2 in Good
- The brand's prices: Expedition Parka CAD 1,995, Snow Mantra CAD 2,195, Joffre Knit Crew CAD 495
- On within: 79 Canada Goose pieces at 2 boutiques, median CAD 595, read 9 October 2026
- Where it is made: 61 of the 74 pieces at Due West say made in Canada
For standing still at minus 30°C
TEI 5 is the top of the brand's warmth scale, rated for minus 30°C and below. The Snow Mantra, at CAD 2,195, carries that rating, and its page says it is known as "the warmest coat on earth". That is the brand's claim, not a test.
The Expedition Parka was made for Antarctica. In the 1980s the brand developed it for scientists at McMurdo Station, and it became standard issue, nicknamed "Big Red". It costs CAD 1,995, is filled with 80% duck down and 20% feathers, and runs large, so read Canada Goose sizing and size down.
Due West has 4 pieces at TEI 5, CAD 995 to 1,795. Its women's Expedition in red is an earlier make with a removable fur ruff, at CAD 1,695, about USD 1,188 before shipping, duties and taxes. It is worth it for standing still at minus 30°C; if your coldest days are warmer, see how to choose a winter coat.

For a city winter, start at TEI 3
TEI 3 is rated for minus 10°C to minus 20°C. At Due West, 20 pieces carry it, with a median of CAD 1,495. Start with the Shelburne Parka, a slim fit with 625 fill power white duck down.
IN STOCK NOW · CANADA GOOSE
Due West has it across five colours at CAD 1,395 to 1,545, while the brand asks CAD 1,595 for its current Shelburne. Markdowns start from Due West's own earlier price of CAD 1,875, which sat above the brand's price. Against the brand's own prices, the saving on the same style name is CAD 50 to 200 for a Shelburne and CAD 200 to 300 for an Expedition.
The brand's history page says it ended all fur purchases in 2021 and stopped manufacturing with fur in 2022. These coats carry a removable fur ruff, so they share a name with the current coats, not a make. (Due West's FAQ says it will email photos of the fur trim options before it ships.)
For the second owner, the numbers on Generations
Generations launched in 2023. Of the listings read, the 3 in Excellent condition each asked 70 percent of new, and the 2 in Good each asked 49 percent. Read that as one day's asking price, not a forecast and not what the Canada Goose trade in pays.
The trade in takes outerwear only, pays in a gift card, takes $25 off for shipping and keeps the coat once issued. On the site, a used Langford Parka in Excellent asked USD 1,327, about CAD 1,894. Due West's Langford Black Label, an earlier make of the same style family, costs CAD 1,545, about CAD 349 less.
Utopia, at 132 Cumberland Street, gives each used piece its own grade, as Generations does, and its photos show every flaw. Its 3 pieces of used Canada Goose run CAD 400 to 800, with an Erickson Parka in black at the top. Before any used buy, read how to spot a fake Canada Goose.

The parka against the knit
Due West's 12 knits run CAD 295 to 495, and 9 are made in Romania or Italy. Give them their due: the Belleville hoody is 100% Merino wool, and the Saturna crewneck is Merino with a reflective yarn. The Belleville is made in Romania, the Saturna in Italy.
On the brand's own site, a Joffre Knit Crew costs CAD 495 and a Mooncrest crewneck CAD 695. A knit's warranty runs two years with the receipt, and the trade in takes no clothing. Among the first 250 listings on Generations, 136 were parkas and 5 were knitwear.
A knit can still be worth it to the person who wants that knit. Without lifetime cover or a trade in path, a knit does not carry the backing of a parka.
Pay Canada Goose prices for the down, not for the logo on a sweater.
Before you pay
Keep the tags on, because the warranty has no effect if the product tags were removed. Save your receipt for anything that is not insulated outerwear. Clean the coat before any claim, or the brand bills a cleaning fee to the repair.
The warranty leaves out normal wear and tear, accidental damage and improper care. Outside that cover, the brand may offer a repair for a reasonable charge, and Canada Goose decides what counts as a defect. Every Canada Goose piece at Due West is a sale item with no refunds, and Utopia sells every piece final.
Due West ships to the US in up to 9 business days and abroad in 6 to 12. Duties and taxes are not covered, and pieces with fur may be inspected at customs.
Curbside pickup at Due West, 431 Queen Street West, is usually ready within 24 hours, with the card used and photo ID. At this price, read any maker's warranty page before its price tag.
Common questions
Is Canada Goose the warmest jacket?
The Snow Mantra's own page says it is known as "the warmest coat on earth", and that is the brand's claim, not a test result. At CAD 2,195, it carries TEI 5, the top rating for minus 30°C and below, and 4 pieces at Due West share that rating.
Is a Canada Goose parka waterproof?
No, the Expedition Parka's page does not call it waterproof, giving its Arctic Tech shell a water repellent finish instead. For heavy rain, the Kitsilano rain jacket at Due West is fully seam sealed and made in Portugal at CAD 545, backed by a two year warranty.
Is Canada Goose still Canadian?
Yes, for where it makes its outerwear: the brand runs seven factories in Canada, and 61 of the 74 pieces at Due West say made in Canada. The other 13 pieces are 9 knits from Romania or Italy and 4 wind and rain jackets from Portugal.
