Do Hokas run small or big?

Neither, for most of the line. Sneakerjagers, a sneaker news site, lists the Clifton, Bondi, Arahi, Challenger and Mach as true to size. The exceptions run small:

• The Speedgoat runs slightly small, especially in the toe box, so go half a size up.
• The Tor Ultra has a structured fit like a boot, and some find it small. Half a size up again.

Width is where Hoka fit changes most. The Clifton is snug in the midfoot with a roomier toe box. The Arahi and Challenger can feel tight for wide feet or high arches, and some go half a size up for forefoot room.

With Hoka, check the width of the shoe before you change the length.

Hoka Mafate Speed 4 Lite sizing

The Mafate Speed 4 Lite fits differently from the road running line.

RunToTheFinish, a running blog, lists it in unisex sizing and not available in wide. Its reviewer found it narrower than most Hokas, with an ample toe box, and had rubbing at the Achilles from the collar that eased after a few runs.

SoleFeed, a sneaker review site, rates it true to size in length with a narrow midfoot and reported heel rubbing. So:

• A normal or narrow foot takes its usual size.
• A wide foot goes half a size up, or tries one on, since there is no wide version.
• Women convert first. All 19 pairs on within were listed in US men's sizing.

Hoka vs Nike sizing

There is no fixed rule. RunToTheFinish's reviewer wears an 8.5 in Hoka and a 9 in most other brands, so for that foot, Hoka ran half a size larger. Other wearers go half up in Hoka because of the narrow midfoot.

The safest route is centimetres.

On the chart Sneakerjagers reprints, a men's US 8.5 is EU 42 and 26 cm, and a US 9 is EU 43 and 26.5 cm. Measure your foot, then match. Nike's side is in do Nikes run small, and other brands are in the designer shoe size chart.

Hoka sizes on shelves now

On 2 November 2026, within had 19 pairs on the Hoka shelf, all at parlor23. Every pair was listed in US men's sizing.

The Mafate Speed 4 Lite led with 7 pairs, then the Mafate Three2 with 4 and the Speed Loafer with 3. Eight pairs were collaborations with Satisfy, WTAPS, Spencer Badu and Nicole McLaughlin.

11 of the 19 pairs came in a single size, and every pair was final sale, so the size has to be right first time:

• Mafate Speed 4 Lite Satisfy Sulfur in US 8.5, 9 and 11.
• Clifton LS Satisfy Celadon Tint in US 8, 9 and 10.
• Speed Loafer Walnut Cast Iron in US 9.5, 10.5, 11 and 13.
• Mafate Three2 Nicole McLaughlin in US 9 and 10.
