Is GOAT legit? Yes, but not everything is checked by hand

GOAT's site listed 611,959 items on 9 October 2026, and the common story is that a person checks every pair of Jordans or Nikes. GOAT's returns page says "most items are shipped to us first for review," and you picture a person opening the box. Its verification page (goat.com/verification) says "some products are verified using methods that do not include physical examination of the product."

What GOAT checks, in its own words

On a standard US order, GOAT says "most items are shipped to us first for review." Items labeled "Instant" were verified earlier.

Its methods include digital authentication and in hand verification. If a pair fails verification, GOAT may replace it as described or refund in full.

GOAT's owner, GOAT Group, also runs Flight Club, Sneakers.com, alias and Grailed, which has its own note: Grailed in Canada.

If a pair arrives wrong, you have thirty days

Its Buyer Protection Policy (goat.com/buyer-protection-guarantee) covers a pair that is inauthentic, wrong, unlike its listing or missing a main feature. GOAT's examples are unlisted scuffs and "sneakers without their insoles." Wear is not covered.

An approved claim refunds the total in GOAT Credit, or to your original payment method if you ask when you first contact GOAT.

New pairs go back, used pairs do not

Under its return rules (goat.com/returns), new pairs, GOAT Clean, apparel and accessories can go back within 30 days of receipt, with no creases or sole wear. (Try them on over a rug, and stop at the mirror.) Refunds come as GOAT Credit less shipping both ways, and US buyers may pay a return fee of up to 15 per cent.

Used pairs are final sale, and so are vintage, defect and auction items. GOAT Clean pairs are the exception, each "professionally cleaned, graded, and photographed."

From Canada, the duty is paid at checkout

Canada is on GOAT's delivered duties paid list: duties and taxes are paid at checkout, not on delivery. Shipping to Canada is CAD 15.

Return an order paid in Canadian dollars, and the GOAT Credit comes back in US dollars. On sites where the courier collects duty, read duty on clothes into Canada.

When you want to hold the pair first

On GOAT, "verified" does not always mean a person held the item.

Across three boutiques, within lists Jordan from $85 to $3,000 in Canadian dollars, with a $300 median across pieces. Pickup is offered at Utopia, 132 Cumberland Street, and at Outlined, 25 The West Mall, next to Eataly in Sherway Gardens. Both ship abroad, and Outlined's own FAQ says every pair brought in is "highly inspected."

At Utopia, the used Jordans, graded by the shop come to 300 pieces, each photographed to show any flaws. A 2015 Jordan 1 Retro High Chicago there is $1,250, and the same shop asks $450 for a 2017 Air Jordan 1 Retro Royal.

All three shops sell sneakers as final sale, so there is no return for fit. within does not authenticate anything, and each shop's statement is the shop's own.

Check whether the listing is new, used or GOAT Clean, since that decides if it can go back. An "Instant" pair cannot be cancelled.

Open the box the day it lands and match it to the listing photos; the thirty days start at receipt. Ship any return within three business days of getting the label.
