Supreme sizing: does Supreme run small? No, it is cut big

In November 2011 one reader said he wore a medium in other brands but took a large in Supreme. He admitted the medium fit him too, but he liked the large more. Another reader buys a small, because Supreme mediums fit him like a large.

They were looking at the same clothes. Supreme prints the measurements of 37 pieces and not one word of advice. Every measurement is on the Supreme size chart, which shows the label is standard and the cut is wide.

Tees in your regular size

Supreme opened on Lafayette Street in downtown Manhattan in April 1994, as the home of New York City skate culture. The plainest tee Supreme sells comes in a pack with Hanes, and Hanes prints the chest on the package. That package assigns a medium to a 38 to 40 inch chest.

A reader with a 40 inch chest sits at the top of that medium range. The medium Paris Tee measures 22 inches across, which works out to 44 inches around her body (Supreme measures across, not around, so double it). That cut leaves 4 inches of room.

Supreme will swap a hoodie for store credit. It will not swap a tee. Boutique rails carry 50 Supreme tees in letter sizes, deepest in large with 24 pieces and medium with 23, at a median of CAD 200.

Hoodies and the box logo cut

On that same 40 inch chest, a medium Washed Logo Hooded Sweatshirt measures 25 5/8 inches across. That width is about 51 inches around, giving 11 inches to spare. Those extra inches explain why the two readers never agreed on sizing.

Supreme described the Box Logo Hooded Sweatshirt in its 2023 and 2025 previews with the same words: heavyweight crossgrain brushed back fleece with embroidered logo and graphic. Across independent racks, the Supreme hoodies and sweatshirts in stock run from CAD 150 to 1,600. Mediums outnumber every other size on the box logo rail, filling 11 of 18 spots.

A black box logo from fall/winter 2016 sits in medium at CAD 500, with a pre owned large beside it for CAD 400. An MM6 Maison Margiela navy zip up is the dearest piece on the rail at CAD 1,500. When buying second hand, ask the seller to lay the fleece flat and measure 1 inch below the armhole.

The label is honest. The cut is big.

The waist tag on pants and jeans

A Supreme 32 is not 32 inches. Supreme's Fall/Winter 2026 chart lists a size 32 Work Pant at 35 1/2 inches around the waist. A size 32 Painter Pant measures 34 1/2 inches, and the Baggy Jean reaches 35 1/2.

Our arithmetic shows a Supreme 32 waist is 2 1/2 to 3 1/2 inches bigger than the tag states. On the same page, Supreme/Hanes boxer briefs in medium are intended for a 32 to 34 inch waist. Washed Logo Sweatpants in medium measure 32 3/4 inches around the waist when relaxed.

What to check before you pay

Lay a tee or hoodie you like flat before buying anything. Measure across the chest 1 inch below the armhole, and take the length from the high point of the shoulder to the hem. Match those numbers against Supreme's published charts.

Supreme offers store credit only, requires an email within 2 days of delivery, and excludes T-Shirts, Hats, Skateboards, Bags, Accessories, Shoes and Sale Items from returns.
