How to spot fake Chrome Hearts: the seller, not the stamp

To spot fake Chrome Hearts, start with the seller: the brand sells no jewellery online and names its 36 locations and 8 authorized retailers.

PLATE No. CLXVIII

Spotting fake Chrome Hearts starts with the seller: the brand sells no jewellery online and names only 8 authorized retailers. On 21 September a Depop shopper saw Chrome Hearts at a steep discount and asked Reddit if they were real. Before you zoom in on the stamp, look at who is selling.

The brand prints no guide to spotting fakes across its website. A checklist nobody can source makes you confident and nothing else, and so does a stranger in the replies or a chatbot tagged under the photo.

The checks worth making trace to a source: who is selling, what the brand sells online, the resale ask, and the guarantee in writing. Online, the brand sells Baccarat glass, scents, underwear and socks. Nothing else.

A site selling new rings, glasses or hoodies at a discount is not the brand, whatever the logo says.

For the silver, a 925 stamp proves nothing alone

Chrome Hearts began in Los Angeles in 1988, making leather motorcycle riding gear. Per the CFDA, the line has handmade jewellery in precious metals, and almost every product is made in small quantities at the factory in Hollywood. British GQ called the Cemetery ring and the Paper Chain necklace shorthand for the brand.

Under section 4 of Canada's Precious Metals Marking Act, a piece stamped sterling or 925 must also carry a registered trademark. A UK hallmark, or a foreign government mark of quality, is the exception. A 925 on its own proves nothing about who made the ring.

Resale is the price you can check, because the brand's website sells no ring to compare with. Rings run $400 to $7,000, with the middle at $2,000; a pre owned Forever Ring is $1,200, and a lightly used Paper Chain Ring $1,500. What Chrome Hearts rings cost has the rest.

For the glasses, the brand's website sells no frame

GQ lists Japanese eyewear among what the house makes, and no frame appears in the brand's online shop.

Across 33 Chrome Hearts glasses, the asks start at $1,000 and stop at $4,500, with the middle at $2,200. A lightly used Cox Ucker in Black and Silver lands exactly there.

A new pair offered far under $1,000 is below every one of those asks, and the seller owes you the reason before you pay. The full spread is in what Chrome Hearts glasses cost.

For hoodies and tees, the pieces that trade most

In the same GQ report, Lexi Eberhart at Grailed said printed tees, hoodies and trucker hats drive the highest number of transactions. The more a piece trades, the more hands it passes through before yours.

Of the 698 pieces, 195 are cotton and 30 are leather. Hoodies and sweatshirts cover $600 to $8,000; a pre owned navy Logo Hoodie is $1,100. New, the lime green Matty Boy Link Hoodie is $3,000.

Hats trade in the same corner. In September a post on X said Bayern's Olise wore a cross patch cashmere beanie to Oktoberfest, called it rare and priced it in euros. Without the footballer, a new black Horseshoe Skull Cap Beanie asks $2,000.

The website with a sale against the brand's own shop

The Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre notes that counterfeiters use websites with the look and feel of a legitimate maker to sell products at big discounts. This month a site with the brand name misspelled was titled as its official Canadian store. Chrome Hearts sued 92 online sellers for counterfeiting in Illinois, The Fashion Law reported on 21 May 2026.

The centre lists red flags: no phone number or email, an odd name on your card statement, packaging with no labels and a hugely discounted price. Anyone who bought from a site like that was shopping, not failing a test.

Put the brand's shop beside the sale. Online, the brand sells no ring at any price. Resale rings ask $400 at the floor and $2,000 in the middle, so a new ring at 80% off discounts a price that does not exist.

A stranger's legit check is an opinion. A seller's written guarantee has a name on it.

At the counter, the guarantee is the seller's

The CFDA gave the owners, Laurie Lynn and Richard Stark, its Geoffrey Beene Lifetime Achievement Award in November 2022. The brand lists 36 locations, among them Aoyama in Tokyo, 18 Avenue Montaigne in Paris and a store inside the Accessories Hall at Selfridges in London. The retailers page adds 8 more, Dover Street Market Ginza, Maxfield on Melrose Avenue and Joy Fashion in St. Moritz among them.

None of them is in Canada. Chrome Hearts bought 121 Scollard Street in Yorkville for $12.65 million for its first Canadian store, Retail Insider reported on 16 July 2026. No opening date is announced yet; the Chrome Hearts Toronto store tracks the building.

Anyone not on the brand's lists is a resale seller, and the guarantee is theirs, in their own words.

Utopia stocks every piece of Chrome Hearts on the shelf, and it is a resale seller, not on the brand's list. Its product pages state that all products are authentic, backed by authenticators with five years of experience. The same pages say every item is final sale, with no returns or exchanges under any circumstances.

Before you pay, get it in writing

Ask first whether the seller is one of the 36 locations or the 8 retailers. If not, ask who authenticated the piece, and get that guarantee and the return policy in writing. Then set the ask against Chrome Hearts prices by category, because the Anti-Fraud Centre advises knowing market value.

Verify the seller's address, phone number and email, and pay with a method that has fraud protection, such as a credit card. Where you can, pick the piece up and pay in person. (If it came in a gift box, ask the giver where it was bought; that answer is worth more than the box.)

Book ahead at the brand's own stores: the locations page marks 11 of the 36 for appointments and gives appointments priority at Aoyama and Ginza. In Toronto, the resale counter at 132 Cumberland Street is open 12:00 to 20:00 seven days, and 363 of its 698 Chrome Hearts pieces are ungraded, not new. From Aoyama to St. Moritz, the rule holds: know who sold it before you judge what it is.

Common questions

How to tell if Chrome Hearts is real?

Start with the seller: new Chrome Hearts silver, glasses and clothing come from the brand's 36 locations and 8 authorized retailers, and everything else is resale. No brand page prints a checklist of physical tells, so set the price against used Chrome Hearts and get the guarantee in writing.

Does Chrome Hearts sell jewelry online?

No, the brand's own website sells Baccarat glass, scents, underwear and socks, and lists no jewellery, eyewear, hoodies or T-shirts. A web shop selling new rings under the brand's name is a warning, not a find.

Where can I buy real Chrome Hearts?

New, at one of the brand's 36 locations, such as 870 Madison Avenue in New York, or its 8 authorized retailers, such as United Arrows in Japan. From anyone else it is resale, so start with where to buy Chrome Hearts and ask each seller who authenticated the piece.
