Are Jordan 4s true to size? How they fit in 2026

The reason is the forefoot. The 4 is narrow across the toes, and the plastic wings on each side pull the upper in as you lace it.

Do Jordan 4s run small?

Not in length. They feel small across the front, and that is a width problem.

Nike's guide says the Air Jordan 4 Retro "generally fits true to size for standard foot shapes, but going half size up is recommended if you have a wider foot." For men, it adds that many find the shoe "narrower at the metatarsals in the forefoot." If you wear a C or D width, Nike suggests half a size up.

JD Sports calls the result the "pinky pinch." The wings on each side connect to the sole, so tightening the laces pulls the upper against a stiff rubber mudguard that does not stretch much. Loosening the bottom laces helps.

A Jordan 4 that pinches is usually the right length and the wrong width.

Why the SB and Reimagined pairs fit easier

In spring 2023 the Nike SB Air Jordan 4 changed the pattern to make the forefoot more accommodating, per Nike. Sole Retriever reports the general shape moved closer to the 1989 original after that release, with tooling and padding that make it more forgiving.

So the advice splits by pair. For any SB pair or a "Reimagined" pair such as the 2024 Bred Reimagined, Nike's guide says "true to size is recommended for both standard and wide feet." For older retros, wide feet should go half a size up.

That matters for resale, because a lot of pairs on the market are older. Of the 113 Jordan 4 listings we read on within on 1 November 2026, 28 had a release year before 2023 in the title, against 20 from 2023 on.

Women's, GS and toddler sizes

Women's Jordan 4s run 1.5 sizes above men's, so a men's 8.5 is a women's 10, per Sole Retriever. Utopia's listings follow that: a pre owned Bred Reimagined shows as US M 8.5 / W 10, at CAD 250.

Nike says the toe box on women's pairs feels tighter than on some other sneakers. With wide feet, or if you are used to roomy shoes, go half a size up.

JD Sports says big kids' (GS) pairs fit the same narrow way: leave about a thumb's width at the toe, and consider half a size up for wide feet. On the day, within had seven GS pairs and seven toddler pairs, from the Bred Reimagined GS at CAD 250 to a toddler Infrared at CAD 150.

Leather, nubuck and break in

Material changes how a pair settles. Sole Retriever says leather pairs like the Bred Reimagined need almost no break in, while nubuck and suede can take a few wears to soften.

JD Sports adds that the rubber mudguard wraps high around the front, so the upper cannot stretch to make room. Its advice is half a size up if your toes touch the end when you stand.

Toe box creasing and size

Every worn pair creases, but material and fit change how much. JD Sports says tumbled leather like the Bred Reimagined's bends and rolls as you walk. Nubuck and suede pairs, it says, are more likely to form sharper creases across the toe and stay stiffer at first.

Size matters too. Nike's own care guide says shoes that are too big crease more, because of the extra space between the foot and the shoe. So sizing up without a wide foot can cost you a cleaner toe box, which is one more reason to go half up only for wide feet.

What Jordan 4s cost in the shelf snapshot

On 1 November 2026 the Jordan sneaker shelf held at least 113 pairs of Jordan 4s: 102 at Utopia and 11 at parlor23. Fifty two were pre owned.

A pre owned Military Blue (2024) asked CAD 250 in US 9.5, and another pair tried on in US 8 asked the same. The Bred Reimagined ran from CAD 250 pre owned to 400 at the boutique, and parlor23 had one at CAD 395. Parlor23 also held a 2012 Bred at CAD 775.
