What Carti has actually worn

Lei Takanashi wrote in Complex on 5 December 2019 that "Carti is seen head to toe in Rick Owens". His list is the most specific source I found, and it names the clothes.

For one look he wore "a red Rick Owens DRKSHDW denim jacket", Rick Owens "Detroit" waxed denim jeans and 1017 ALYX 9SM chelsea boots. At Travis Scott's Astroworld festival in 2019 he wore a Rick Owens durag, biker jacket and "Larry" skinny jeans, with 1017 ALYX 9SM chelsea boots again.

Briana Younger's interview for Crack Magazine, published 17 May 2021, was done over the phone. She wrote that "he says he's wearing an all black Rick Owens outfit accented with a Givenchy chain". The shoot's captions credit Rick Owens for trousers and shoes.

Notice the boots. Takanashi's two looks are Rick Owens from the ankle up and ALYX below it, so you can skip the sneakers and still be accurate.

Rick Owens asked him about breakfast

The link goes past what he wears. Taylor McCloud reported in HotNewHipHop that Rick Owens interviewed Carti for Sedition magazine, with Carti on the cover. Owens began by asking what his favourite breakfast was, and the same article has Carti naming Boston as his favourite city.

Alexander Cole wrote in HotNewHipHop on 9 July 2024 that a store selling Rick Owens Ramones had set a rule: you must be over 21 to try them on. Carti fans took the blame. The source was a tweet and the headline calls the rule alleged, so treat it as a story and nothing firmer.

Where to buy what he wears

The Detroit jeans are still in the line. Rick Owens' own store listed the DRKSHDW Detroit Cut in black wax stretch denim at USD 860 on 8 November 2026. Waxed black jeans cost less pre owned, and the Geth pair at the same shop is CAD 550 (USD 390) in waist 32.

For tops, DRKSHDW long sleeve tees start at CAD 400. For shoes, the sneakers shelf runs from CAD 650 pre owned to CAD 1,800 new, and the Ramones start at CAD 700. I would put the money into the jeans, because jeans are in both of Complex's looks.

His own merch is the cheap way in. The shop held 16 Playboi Carti items that day, such as the PBC Front Logo hoodie at CAD 150 and the Falling In Reverse tee at CAD 100. All 16 are size small, so this only works if you are one.
