Fashion Art Toronto 2026: what to wear to the fall shows
Fashion Art Toronto runs 23 to 29 November 2026 and posts no dress code, so wear the one piece you would never wear to the office.

Fashion Art Toronto runs its fall season 23 to 29 November 2026, and the audience there is half the show. In May the same week put a runway inside a basketball court in a church on the Danforth. As of 19 October, the organiser's home page names no venue, schedule, designers or ticket prices, so you are dressing for the walk as much as the seat.

Litkovska, Undercover and Mackage, on the shelf.
Dress like a participant, not a spectator. The spring theme was called Toronto, Show Yourself, and it asked audiences to show up fully, alongside designers and artists. "This season is about taking up space," said Vanja Vasic, founder and executive director, in the organiser's release of 4 May.
So wear the one piece you would skip at the office, by a designer nobody can name from across the floor. If you think a guest belongs in quiet black, I half agree: black is right when the cut is strange, and a strange cut beats a big logo.

For the front row
Lilia Litkovska was born in Kyiv into four generations of tailors and garment makers, and she founded her label in 2009. It is a regular on the Paris Fashion Week schedule and sells through more than 60 retailers in 20 countries, Dover Street Market among them. Her motto is that there is no wrong side, and the label is covered with a strip of white fabric, so the name stays unreadable even up close.
The black Litkovska Ruffled Midi Skirt has a fitted waist that opens into structured volume and an irregular ruffled hem, for $1,170. Its fabric holds the shape on its own, which matters on a night spent sitting. On top, the grey Litkovska Blouse With Suiting Detail costs $1,250 in 98% virgin wool with a wrap panel, and both are made in Ukraine.

For the Fashion Playground
The organiser says guests play, dance, shop and make content in the Fashion Playground, which covered 30,000 square feet at T3 Bayside last spring. That is a night on your feet, and I would spend it in Undercover.
Jun Takahashi, born in Kiryu, Gunma, in 1969, started the label with a friend in 1990 while still a student at Bunka Fashion College. His first runway show was in Tokyo in 1994, and Paris women's week followed with spring and summer 2003.
Made in Japan, the Undercover Shawl Lapel Bomber Jacket has one button and sleeves that are half bomber, half blazer, for $1,099. Then the $995 Grounds × Undercover sneaker sets a stretch knit upper on grounds' chunky ORCA platform, with a heel of about 7 cm you can dance in.

For the walk in
On 16 October a buyer on X wrote that anyone spending over a thousand dollars on a winter coat, Mackage and Canada Goose included, pays for the name. Both Mackage jackets below cost less than that. At a fashion week, the coat worth paying for is the one that carries the outfit under it, because it is the first thing anyone sees.
Mackage was founded in Montreal in 1999 by Eran Elfassy, inspired by his brothers' work in the leather trade, and Elisa Dahan joined him two years later. Fashion Art Toronto calls itself a non profit for Canadian designers, artists and creatives, so a Canadian coat on the way in is on theme.
What $850 buys in the men's Mackage Andrew light bomber is a minus 5°C rating, GRS certified down and knit sleeves and back. At $990, the women's Mackage Eshe lite jacket matches that rating and adds an asymmetric zip and a buckled stand collar. You get the name with both.
For one sculptural piece in black
Homme Plissé Issey Miyake started in 2013 on garment pleating, one of Issey Miyake's signature techniques. Its clothes resist creasing, dry fast and wear light. This is the camp where black wins, because the pleats already make the shape strange.
The Homme Plissé Tailored Pleats Long Jacket in black, $1,495, has notched lapels and a three button front, and it is washable, packable and made in Japan. Fold it into a bag between shows and it comes out ready.
(On 16 October a buyer on r/isseymiyake asked whether a resale Homme Plissé jacket with no tag at the neck was real. A shop that stocks the label settles that question before it starts.)
Nobody has posted where the seat is yet, so dress for the walk to it.

Fall 2025 against spring 2026
Fall 2025 ran 10 to 16 November with more than 35 Canadian designers, and its hub was T3 Bayside, 251 Queens Quay East, from 13 to 16 November. Spring 2026 ran 23 to 31 May with more than 42 Canadian designers at the same address and offsite shows across the city.
On 25 May more than 100 Canadian brands filled the third floor of the former Hudson's Bay and Saks Fifth Avenue flagship. The next day the runways went outdoors in the Distillery District. That spread is why I keep saying walk.
Vanja Vasic founded Fashion Art Toronto in 2005, and by its own account it is the longest running independent fashion week in Canada. It counts 21 years of operation, runs twice a year and mixes fashion with the other arts. Its partners include the ROM, the Bata Shoe Museum, The Bentway and TIFF, and what happened to the other fashion week is a separate story.
Tickets, weather and the shops nearby
For fall 2025 the organiser sold day and weekend passes, VIP front row seats, single show tickets, student passes and offsite passes on Eventbrite. The fall 2026 tickets and prices were not up on 19 October, so watch the organiser's own site. If your friend designed one of the collections, ask which night they show before you buy a pass.
Against a normal November low of 2.3°C and 10.9 rain days, wear a coat light enough to carry and shoes you can walk a wet block in.
Near last spring's outdoor runways, the Distillery District shops in within's directory come to three. Gotstyle sells designer menswear at 21 Trinity St, and Dean Davidson sells designer jewellery at 145 Berkeley St, open Wednesday to Sunday. Bergo Designs, at 28 Tank House Lane, carries Ichendorf Milano, EAT MY SOCKS and 38 more designers.
In Yorkville, WDLT117 at 7 St Thomas St is one of the 37 Yorkville shops in within's directory, and every piece above except the Mackage is sold there. The Mackage is at Due West on Queen West. If you are flying in, WDLT117 ships worldwide and Due West ships to the United States, with duties unpaid at both.
The rule travels to any runway week in any city, because the people watching are part of what gets seen.
Common questions
Is there a dress code for Fashion Art Toronto?
No, the organiser posts no dress code on its home, About, Partners, Programs or Media pages, read 19 October 2026. Its spring theme asked audiences to show up fully, and I read that as permission for your strangest piece.
When is Fashion Art Toronto 2026?
Fashion Art Toronto runs 23 to 29 November 2026, after a spring season that ran 23 to 31 May. The fall venue and schedule were not posted on 19 October, so the organiser's own site is the one to watch.
Is Fashion Art Toronto open to the public?
Yes, the organiser's May release said Fashion Art Toronto is open to the public, with tickets sold online. Last fall that meant student passes and single show tickets as well as weekend passes, and fall 2026 prices are not posted yet.
Every business above is independent, was verified open as of August 2026, and nobody paid to be here. If one has closed or moved, tell us at hello@shopwithin.co and we will fix it.
