The within Shelf Index, Q4 2026: what Toronto's shelves hold

Six Toronto boutiques held 8,042 pieces on 2 October 2026, and 4,927 were the last one left.

That is the first reading of the within Shelf Index. Lyst's quarterly index ranks search demand. This one counts what is on the shelf, by label, by size and by how many are left.

How it is counted

We read each boutique's own register through within at 06:43 ET on 2 October 2026. A piece counts when at least one unit is in stock at a counter that fulfils online orders. A label is counted once across its spellings, so Air Jordan and Jordan are one line.

The six are Utopia, Due West, WDLT117, parlor23, Outlined and OUT. Four of them joined in the last week of September: Outlined and OUT on 28 September, Due West and parlor23 on 29 September.

Prices are left to the Toronto Resale Price Index, which reads the same shelves each month. Its September reading counted 4,700 listings and its October reading 8,067. That figure also counts listings that sell without a stock ceiling, so it runs a little above ours.

Scarcity: most of the shelf is one of one

Of the 8,042 pieces, 4,927 have a single unit left. At Utopia, the Yorkville resale shop, 3,072 of 3,743 pieces are the last one, 82 per cent. At parlor23, the consignment sneaker shop, it is 476 of 607, or 78 per cent.

New stock behaves the other way. Due West has 782 last units among 2,215 pieces, and WDLT117 459 among 929.

OUT, which shares Outlined's unit at Sherway Gardens and sells only its own label, has none. Its 101 pieces carry 3,957 units.

Chrome Hearts shows the pattern at its sharpest. All 728 pieces sit at Utopia, and 624 of them are the only one. A size on that shelf is a single chance, and the Chrome Hearts shelf shows which.

Depth: one door per label

Only 32 of the 339 labels are stocked at two boutiques or more. The other 307 have one door in the city, among the shops we read.

The deepest lines are the shared ones. Jordan holds 843 pieces, 629 at Utopia, 159 at parlor23 and 55 at Outlined.

Nike holds 679, and Supreme 279. Adidas holds 223.

Below them, most labels belong to one shop. ASRV holds 138 and Les Deux 123, both at Due West.

Homme Plissé Issey Miyake holds 78, all at WDLT117. Purple Brand, with 103, is one of the few spread across three shops: 79 at Due West, 15 at Outlined and 9 at Utopia.

Canadian down is the clearest case of one door. Moose Knuckles holds 80 pieces, Canada Goose 78 and Mackage 75. Due West has 221 of the 233; our Due West note reads that wall.

Sizes: the city stocks a medium and a 9

Among letter sizes in stock, a medium leads with 1,764 listings. Then come L at 1,648, S at 1,637 and XL at 1,122.

XS has 402 and XXL 315. 3XL has 121, and XXS only 20.

In shoes, a US 9 leads with 408 listings, then 10 with 309, 9.5 with 291 and 11 with 270. Size 13 has 156. Of the 2,217 shoe pieces, 1,483 are at Utopia and 477 at parlor23, whose run our parlor23 note sets out.

The big sizes cluster in one mall. Of the 339 pieces with an XXL or 3XL in stock, 225 are at Outlined and OUT.

The two share 25 The West Mall, Unit 1834, at Sherway Gardens, next to Eataly by Outlined's own page. Due West, the second deepest shop, has 1.

The small end is thinner still. Only 414 pieces have an XS or XXS in stock across all six.

Units: a third of the stock is in Etobicoke

Pieces and units tell two stories. Outlined and OUT hold 548 pieces, under a tenth of the shelf. They hold 7,980 units, a third of the 23,177 in stock.

That is the difference between a resale shelf and a stocked one. Utopia's 3,743 pieces carry 6,627 units, under two apiece. OUT's 101 pieces average 39 each.

Women's stock is mostly on one street

By within's department tags, 720 pieces are for women, and 400 of them hang at WDLT117 on St Thomas Street. That is more than half the women's shelf in one shop. Another 2,627 are tagged for men, and 4,695 carry no department.

The top of the shelf

The spread runs from $5 to $21,000. 1,227 pieces ask $1,000 or more, 911 of them at Utopia.

Of the 66 at $5,000 or more, 62 are Chrome Hearts. At the other end, 3,336 pieces ask under $250.
