Christmas party outfits combine sharp tailored jackets, fluid pleated trousers, and rich velvet separates that catch low room light. Clean drape balances dark silk tops against heavy wool trousers in black and deep blue. Velvet was historically woven from silk and was used for royal robes and church vestments.
Homme Plisse Issey Miyake sews each piece first and pleats it after, so the pleats hold and the cloth does not crease. Coperni is the Paris label of Arnaud Vaillant and Sébastien Meyer. Sulvam, started in Japan by the pattern maker Teppei Fujita, takes classic tailoring apart and leaves raw edges.
