Mitsuru, who was born in Fukui Prefecture, studied at Tokyo Mode Gakuen and then spent seven years as a pattern cutter at Y's and Yohji Yamamoto. That training shows in the label's tailoring and bold cutting, and its signatures include layering and tab ties.
