Relaxed layers, pleated trousers, light outerwear, and walking shoes from independent boutiques for a trip to Tokyo.

Tokyo outfits balance loose tailoring with technical ease across black, grey, and deep blue palettes built for long days of walking. Wide pleated trousers sit alongside deconstructed jackets and oversized outerwear cut from wool, cotton, and down. The uniform stays sharp through precise proportions rather than bright ornamentation.

In the early nineties, the backstreets of Harajuku, known as Ura Harajuku, grew into a center for Tokyo street fashion. Jun Takahashi, who sang in a Sex Pistols cover band, opened the shop Nowhere there with Nigo, and his label Undercover first showed in Paris in the early two thousands. Issey Miyake founded his design studio in Tokyo at the start of the seventies, and Homme Plisse Issey Miyake cuts and sews each piece before pressing it into pleats.

Pants anchor the wardrobe, paired with structured blazers, boxy shirts, and low profile walking shoes. WDLT117 in Toronto brings most of this wall, led by Homme Plisse Issey Miyake pleated trousers and jackets, with Song for the Mute and Undercover.
