About Fear of God
Jerry Lorenzo launched Fear of God in Los Angeles in 2013, with no formal fashion training. He had worked for the Dodgers and a sports agency, then hosted parties called JL Nights. His father is the former baseball player and manager Jerry Manuel. The name comes from his Christian faith and My Utmost for His Highest, a devotional his family read. The first piece he designed was a short sleeve hoodie with side zips. Its extra long T shirts caught the eye of Big Sean's stylist, then Kanye West. Its reworked Vans Era came out in 2016. In 2018 Lorenzo designed the Air Fear of God 1 with Nike and launched the Essentials line. In March 2026 it presented The Eternal Order, its tenth collection.
