About Guidi

Guidi began in 1896 as a tannery in Pescia, Tuscany, founded by Guido Guidi, Giovanni Rosellini and Gino Ulivo. The tannery uses vegetable tanning, soaking hides in tannins from plant sources such as tree bark. It also makes leather for other designers. The label's own footwear grew out of that leather work. Its shoes are sewn in off white leather and then dyed in a turning drum, zips and all. Each pair takes on its own character over time. Its zip boots include the 788Z with a back zip, the PL2 with a front zip and the taller 310. The 788Z is hand made in Italy from horse full grain leather, with a Goodyear welt and a stacked leather heel.
