Moose Knuckles started in Montreal in 2009. The family behind it has made coats against the Canadian cold since 1921. Canadian trade press names Noah Stern of that family and Ayal Twik as its co chief executives.

The name comes from the moose, which leaves only the mark of its knuckle in the snow.

The core line is the Originals: coats with a water repellent cotton and nylon shell and 800 fill power down. An average coat takes 74 sewing and finishing steps, the company says, and the design team works at the head office in Montreal. The letter charts are on the Moose Knuckles size page.

Check the label if Made in Canada matters to you. The company says its core parkas, bombers and jackets are made in three Canadian factories with more than 200 staff. Yet the page for the Original Ballistic Down Bomber says it is made in Vietnam.

In July 2021 Moose Knuckles said it would stop using natural fur by the end of 2022. A fur trim on a coat you are looking at is worth asking about.

In Toronto, Due West at 431 Queen St W carries Moose Knuckles, and Utopia at 132 Cumberland Street has a few pieces. On 13 October 2026 the jackets and coats ran from about $283 to $1,410, with puffers from about $562 and vests from about $491. The sizes on the shelf ran XS to XL that day.
