About Supreme

James Jebbia opened Supreme on Lafayette Street in Lower Manhattan in April 1994. It started as a skate shop. Neighbourhood kids, New York skaters and local artists became its staff and customers. Its red box logo, with the name in white Futura letters, was based on the art of Barbara Kruger. The label became known for releasing each season in small weekly batches, called drops. It has worked with artists, musicians and other labels, including Comme des Garçons and, in 2017, Louis Vuitton. In 2018 it won the CFDA award for Menswear Designer of the Year. VF Corporation agreed to buy it in 2020. EssilorLuxottica, the eyewear group, bought it in 2024.
