About Jordan
Jordan began with the Air Jordan 1, made for Michael Jordan in 1984 and on sale from April 1985. Nike designer Peter Moore led the design of that first shoe. Nike ran a Banned ad around it, saying the NBA had thrown the shoe out of the game. Tinker Hatfield's Air Jordan III, out in 1988, was the first to carry the Jumpman logo. It came with tumbled leather and elephant print trim. The Jumpman traces back to a Life magazine photo of Jordan leaping, taken before the 1984 Olympics. The Air Jordan XI is known for its patent leather mudguard. In 1997 Nike and Jordan launched Jordan Brand for basketball shoes and sportswear, Air Jordan included.
