Wool Coats
Heavy wool and merino coats for men and women from independent boutiques, cut to wear over suits, knitwear and denim all winter.
A wool coat is the outer layer that defines cold weather dressing, sheltering the body while holding a clean line over tailored suits or heavy knits.
Dense woven wool shields against sharp city winds without losing its silhouette, balancing substantial weight against softer textures like shearling collars and silk linings. Deep black, camel and navy tones ground the classic overcoat, while asymmetric closures and dropped shoulders pull the form into modern street tailoring. The pea coat, a short double breasted coat of heavy wool, began with sailors in European navies.
Mackage, founded in Montreal by Eran Elfassy and Elisa Dahan, began with leather jackets and now makes wool coats with leather details as well as parkas. Masnada, an Italian label started by a former theatre costume maker, works natural fabrics by hand, and Undercover brings wool blazers and jackets. Due West in Toronto brings Mackage down jackets and parkas with coats from Nobis, COOR and Kenzo, and WDLT117 in Toronto brings wool jackets and coats from Undercover, UJOH and RUOHAN. Utopia in Toronto adds varsity jackets, some pre owned.
