Shopping in Queen West.

No within boutiques stand in Queen West yet. The nearest shelves are 3.25 km away at Utopia, about 8 minutes by car.

500 pieces on those shelves

The city's longest continuous fashion strip and, since 2024, its most visibly changing one: retail is more than half the businesses and much of it fashion, but a chain-departure wave through 2025 and 2026 has left real vacancy. Ontario Line construction is under way at Queen/Spadina and Osgoode. What survives skews toward independents and mid-market Canadian labels rather than the international chains that left.

Getting to the shelves

Driving times are free flow and take no account of traffic. Distances are by road from the middle of the district.

Getting here

Osgoode station on Line 1 is the nearest subway, a 10-minute walk (0.82 km); St. Andrew and St. Patrick are each 0.92 km. The strip's own transit is the 501 Queen streetcar, which runs its full length, with the 510 Spadina crossing at Spadina Avenue.

Where it runs

Queen Street West from Simcoe Street to Bathurst Street. NOTE: the official east boundary is Simcoe Street, one block east of University Avenue, not University as often written. The adjoining West Queen West BIA continues from Bathurst Street to Gladstone Avenue, and this page's aliases cover both because one journal guide already serves both phrasings.

Read the Queen West shopping guide for the shops themselves, street by street.
