Sulvam for men
Teppei Fujita started Sulvam in Japan, and its first collection was for autumn winter 2014. Born in Chiba in 1984, he graduated from Bunka Fashion College. He spent about seven years as a pattern maker at Yohji Yamamoto. He has said the name is a Latin word that refers to improvisation. Fujita makes every pattern himself, free hand. By his own account he cannot make fashion drawings or use computer software, so he develops clothes on the body. The label is known for tailoring with raw hems, jagged contrast stitching and cutouts. Sulvam won the Tokyo Fashion Award in 2014. Its autumn winter 2015 collection was presented in Paris and Tokyo. It reached the semifinal of the LVMH Prize in 2017.
