Sies Marjan was a New York fashion label that first showed at New York Fashion Week in February 2016. Nancy and Howard Marks backed the Dutch designer Sander Lak to build it from scratch. He named it by joining his parents' first names. Lak had spent five years at Dries Van Noten, where he was design director, after jobs at Balmain in Paris and Phillip Lim in New York. The clothes were known for saturated colour, shimmering palettes and unexpected materials. Lak won the CFDA Swarovski Award for Emerging Talent in 2018. The label closed in June 2020, after a major stockist filed for bankruptcy in 2019 and the pandemic hit.
