About Glass Cypress
Glass Cypress is a menswear label from Houston, Texas, founded in 2016 by brothers Saber and Samee Ahmed. It began as a line of screen printed tees. The brothers were raised in Houston by Bangladeshi parents, and the label's techniques draw on that heritage. Bangladeshi craftspeople make every piece. The clothes are hand embroidered and naturally dyed. One technique is Nakshi kantha, a centuries old hand embroidery that Saber compares to Japanese boro stitching. More elaborate designs can take one person up to three days of constant work. The label treats dyeing, quilting, gathering and washing as part of how each piece is built. Its silhouettes and materials return again and again, changed a little each time.
