About Adidas
Adi Dassler registered Adidas in Herzogenaurach, Germany, on 18 August 1949, with 47 employees. The name is short for Adi Dassler. That same year he registered a shoe with the three stripes. Before that, Adi and his older brother Rudolf ran a shoe factory together from 1924. In 1936 Adi persuaded the American sprinter Jesse Owens to wear his handmade spikes at the Berlin Olympics. The brothers later split, and Rudolf's firm became Puma. The Samba came out in 1950 as a football boot for icy and snowy pitches. The Trefoil logo followed in 1972, the year of the Munich Olympics. The Yeezy line with Kanye West ran from 2015 until Adidas ended it in October 2022.
