Nina Ricci was founded in Paris in 1932 by Maria "Nina" Ricci and her son Robert. Born in Turin in 1883, she had run her own department at the fashion firm Raffin for 24 years. She designed the clothes and Robert ran the business. Instead of sketching, she worked the fabric directly on the mannequin. Robert launched its first perfume, Coeur Joie, in 1946. He made L'Air du Temps with the perfumer Francis Fabron in 1948. Marc Lalique later designed its crystal bottle with two doves on the stopper. The Spanish group Puig has owned the label since 1998. Harris Reed, creative director from 2022, stepped down in March 2026 after his fall 2026 show.
