Ottolinger is a Berlin label founded by the Swiss designers Christa Bösch and Cosima Gadient. They met as students at the Basel School of Design and started the label after moving to Berlin. In 2018 the two were semifinalists for the LVMH Prize. The name was already on the doorbell of their first studio. They kept it at first to make deliveries easier, and it stuck. Their method is to take clothes apart and build them again, mixing industrial methods with couture craft. The designers burn holes into fabric for a lace effect, fray the seams, splash pieces with bleach and dip them in rubber. The label is known for jersey pieces and printed mesh dresses and tops.
