Serapis is an Athens fashion and art collective that reworks the imagery of Greek shipping. It presents itself as both a shipping company and a design business. Early prints were photographs taken on a cargo ship sailing from Poland to Saudi Arabia, through the Suez Canal, in 2014 and 2015. The photographs were printed on silk from Soufli, in northern Greece. Its members studied art or architecture, and their families have worked in shipping. Reflective tape, D rings and extra pockets from maritime uniforms turn up on its streetwear. Its Autumn/Winter 2017 collection, Night in Gadani, used drawings and spray paintings made by a ship's crew at the Gadani ship breaking yard. Serapis also makes art for exhibitions, including the Kunsthal Charlottenborg Biennale in Denmark in 2023.
