About Rick Owens
Rick Owens started his label in Los Angeles in the 1990s, after working as a pattern cutter. He was born in California in 1961. His early clothes used reclaimed materials such as military bags and army blankets. He drew notice when Kate Moss was photographed for Vogue Paris in one of his leather jackets. In 2003 he moved to Paris with Michèle Lamy, whom he married in 2006. His lines include DRKSHDW, and his work is known for draping and bias cut patterns. His Geobasket sneaker is a high top with an oversized tongue and wrap around laces. In June 2025 the Palais Galliera in Paris opened Temple of Love, a retrospective of his work.
