About Veja

Its founders are Sébastien Kopp and François Morillion, two Frenchmen who met at school at 14, and the company is owned by the two of them alone. It runs the Veja General Store at 11 rue de Marseille in Paris.
Veja has made its sneakers in Brazil from the start, in the northeast and the south of the country, and since 2023 also in Portugal for Europe. The soles are 50% wild rubber from the Amazon, tapped by families in the state of Acre, and Veja pays about 5 times the market price for it. Its canvas and laces are organic cotton grown by farmers' groups in Brazil and Peru.
Shoes come in EU sizes from about 35 to 50, depending on the model, with US, UK and JP sizes and foot length beside them. If you hesitate between two sizes, Veja says to take the larger one, and its running shoes run small, so order one size up. The charts are on the Veja size page.
Since 2004 Veja has bought more than 4,382 tons of Amazon rubber. At the end of 2025 it had 11 repair stations, in cities such as Paris, London, Brooklyn and São Paulo.
