Bape legit check: is it real or fake?

Bape does no authenticity check of any kind, so these checks trace the piece back to Bape: its 83 stores, its own web shops, its own pages and its own prices.

Answer each check with the piece in front of you, then press Check it. A check marked Counts most is a strong sign on its own. Every check comes from our guide, How to spot fake Bape: ask where it was bought.

  1. 1. Did it come from one of Bape's 83 stores or its official web shops?

Bape authenticates nothing, so check the seller against its 83 stores and its official online shops before you check the hoodie.

    What to look for

Its stores include 650 Madison Avenue in New York, 24 to 25 Conduit Street in London and 1028 Alberni Street in Vancouver, its only store in Canada. Online it sells through bape.com, us.bape.com, uk.bape.com, eu.bape.com, int.bape.com and bapepirate.com.

Pass: Bought from Bape. Keep the receipt: Bape's only exchange is for a defect it caused, and it needs the receipt.

Fail: Anything bought elsewhere is a second hand piece sold on the seller's word, and should be priced like one.

  2. 2. For a us.bape.com order, does the charge on your statement read SP USBAPECOM?Counts most

On a us.bape.com order, any other merchant name means you did not buy from Bape.

    What to look for

Bape's US FAQ names us.bape.com as its only online store there and asks buyers to check that the charge reads SP USBAPECOM.

Pass: The charge is Bape's own.

Fail: Any other merchant name on a us.bape.com order means you did not buy from Bape.

  3. 3. Can you find the same piece on Bape's own site, by name, colourway, fabric and price?

Find the same piece on Bape's site by name, colourway, fabric line and price in its own currency, then hold it against the one in your hands.

    What to look for

Bape's pages print the fabric: the Paisley Pattern Shark full zip hoodie comes "with brushed lining", and the College tee is "Made from 100% cotton."

Pass: It matches a piece Bape sells.

Fail: Anything that does not match is a question to put to the seller before you pay.

  4. 4. Does the camo pattern and colourway exist on Bape's own pages, and can the seller name the season?

Check that the pattern and colourway on a listing exist on Bape's own pages, and if the seller cannot name the season, keep asking before you pay.

    What to look for

Bape calls 1ST CAMO its original camouflage. ABC CAMO is another. Camo has no single right price: on us.bape.com, 1ST CAMO pieces run USD 69 to 1,009.

Pass: The camo is one Bape made, and the seller knows the season.

Fail: If the seller cannot name the season, keep asking before you pay.

  5. 5. Is the price close to Bape's own, in Bape's currency, or a fair used price?

Check the price against Bape's own, in Bape's currency.

    What to look for

On us.bape.com, read 5 October 2026: Shark full zip hoodies USD 429 to 719, median USD 535; Ape Head tees USD 99 to 189, median USD 129. Bape marked down none of its 1,159 products there.

Pass: The ask fits Bape's own prices, or a fair price for a used piece.

Fail: A low price is a reason to ask which season and which condition; on its own it proves nothing. The Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre flags 80% off.

  6. 6. Has the seller's profile been around for a while, not brand new?

The Canadian Anti Fraud Centre's guide "Check twice, pay once" flags 80% off and sellers with brand new social profiles as warning signs.

    What to look for

The same guide says to verify the seller's address, phone number and email.

Pass: An older profile is one less warning sign.

Fail: A brand new social profile is one of the centre's warning signs.

What proves nothing

  • A low price on its own: cheap Bape comes from Bape's own seven outlet stores, older seasons and second owners.
  • A stranger's legit check thread: it can catch a bad copy, but the seller is the one check Bape itself stands behind.

Before you pay

Verify the seller's address, phone number and email, pay with a method that has fraud protection, such as a credit card, and pick up and pay in person when you can. That is the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre's advice, which the guide repeats.

If you bought it online, the seller's return window is your friend

Check the window today. Some are only a few days long.

  • Is StockX legit? On its Listings Marketplace the shoe is checked only if you pay for verification.
  • Is GOAT legit? Thirty days from receipt to report a pair that is fake or not as described. Used pairs are final sale.
  • Is Grailed legit? 3 calendar days from receipt to report a piece that is fake or not as described.
  • Is Poshmark legit? 72 hours from the delivery scan to open a case, then the seller is paid.
  • Is Depop legit? 30 days from purchase to report a problem. Its protection covers 3 countries, not Canada.
  • Is The RealReal legit? Ask for a return within 14 days of the shipment date. A bag without its Return Guarantee is final sale.
  • Is SSENSE legit? 30 calendar days from delivery to ask for a return.
  • Is Farfetch legit? 30 days to send it back, and a Canadian order lands duty paid.
  • Is Cettire legit? A return must reach it within 14 days of delivery.

If you already paid and it turns out fake, destroy it or return it to the seller, the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre says, then report it to local police and to the centre. Where that comes from.
