Moncler legit check: is it real or fake?

Every Moncler piece has carried a code tag since spring 2016. Enter that code at code.moncler.com yourself and check that the name it returns matches the tag sewn inside.

Answer each check with the piece in front of you, then press Check it. A check marked Counts most is a strong sign on its own. Every check comes from our guide, How to spot fake Moncler: the code, the year, the seller.

  1. 1. Does it have an authenticity tag with a code of its own?

Every Moncler product has carried a code tag since spring 2016, and that code is the best evidence a buyer will get.

    What to look for

Since spring 2016 the tag is shaped like the logo, with a chip inside, a code and a QR code. An independent guide says jackets made since 2009, and some since 2008, carry a code tag of some kind.

Pass: The code check can run.

Fail: A 2018 jacket with no tag at all is a question.

  2. 2. On your own account at code.moncler.com, does the name it returns match the name on the tag sewn inside?Counts most

Compare the name the checker shows with the name on the tag sewn inside. If they differ, stop.

    What to look for

Enter the code yourself. Do not trust a screenshot from the seller, and do not read a generic reply as a yes. Code Moncler needs its own account, even if you have one at moncler.com.

Pass: Moncler's own checker agrees with the jacket.

Fail: The names differ, and the guide's advice is to stop.

  3. 3. Does the tag type fit the year the jacket was made?

So a jacket's tag should match the year it was made.

    What to look for

An independent guide's reading: a Certilogo tag from 2008 to 2012, a small QR tag from 2013 to 2015, a large QR tag from 2015 or 2016 on, and the chip tag on everything from 2016. Moncler publishes no such timeline itself.

Pass: The tag fits the jacket's age.

    Fail: A 2012 jacket with a 2016 style tag is a question.

  4. 4. Did it come from Moncler or a boutique Moncler names?

A new jacket from Moncler or a boutique it names is the only new jacket with no question attached.

    What to look for

Moncler runs over 300 boutiques, and its North American number is 1 888 320 9162. An independent guide reports that Moncler may decline to rule on a jacket bought on eBay.

    Pass: No question attached.

Fail: Everything else is resale, so do your checks before you pay.

  5. 5. If it is sold as new, is the price near Moncler's own?

Price is a signal, not proof, but it rules out a lot.

    What to look for

On moncler.com in Canada, 11 September 2026, a men's Maya asked $2,615, and the cheapest new down jacket we checked, the Lans Packable Short, $1,825. Anything under $1,300 new was a child's size or a resale price.

Pass: The price fits a new jacket.

Fail: A new one at a few hundred dollars is not a sale.

  6. 6. Has the seller sent one clear photo of the code tag and the name tag in the same frame?

Ask the seller for one clear photo of the code tag and the name tag in the same frame.

    What to look for

A blurry badge photo in a marketplace listing settles nothing, in either direction.

Pass: You can run the code check.

Fail: A seller with a real jacket has no reason to refuse.

  7. 7. Has the seller given you a written promise that it is real?

Fifth, read the seller's written promise.

    What to look for

A resale shop's promise is its own, not Moncler's.

Pass: The promise is in writing.

Fail: Without it, nobody has put their name to the jacket.

What proves nothing

  • A QR scan that lands on Moncler's site: an independent guide says most QR images on fakes are copied from a real tag.
  • A blurry badge photo: it settles nothing, in either direction.

If you bought it online, the seller's return window is your friend
