Homme Plissé legit check: is it real or fake?

Issey Miyake names 4 official online stores and says it cannot appraise anything bought outside them. So read the labels as a set and match the product code.

Answer each check with the piece in front of you, then press Check it. A check marked Counts most is a strong sign on its own. Every check comes from our guide, How to spot fake Homme Plissé Issey Miyake.

  1. 1. Does the care label show an iron symbol?Counts most

An authentication guide flags an iron symbol on the care label as a fake tell.

    What to look for

That fits the brand's own rule: wash cold at up to 30°C, and never tumble dry, iron or steam the pleats.

Pass: No iron symbol, as the brand's care rules would have it.

Fail: An iron symbol is a fake tell, and it goes against the brand's own rule never to iron the pleats.

  2. 2. Does the line name carry its accent: PLISSÉ?

The same guide says the line name should carry its accent, PLISSÉ.

    What to look for

Check it on the main label.

    Pass: The accent is there.

Fail: A missing accent is one of the tells the guide lists. Confirm against the official listing for the same piece.

  3. 3. Do the labels say Made in Japan and 100% polyester?

The same guide says the pleated pieces read Made in Japan and 100% polyester.

    What to look for

Treat both as checks to confirm against the official listing for the same piece.

Pass: The labels say what the pleated pieces should.

Fail: A different country or fabric is a question. Check the official listing for the same piece.

  4. 4. Does the product code match the same piece in the same colour?

Search the product code for an exact match of the same piece in the same colour.

    What to look for

The brand's US site lists a Tailored Pleats 1 jacket under the code HP68-JD150, at US$910, in sizes 1 to 4. A valid code is only supportive, because a fake can copy a real one.

Pass: The code matches a real listing.

Fail: No exact match is a reason to ask more before you pay.

  5. 5. Do the main label, size label and care tag read as one matching set?

Sui Generis, a consignment house, says to assess the labels as a set rather than one at a time.

    What to look for

Care tags are among the most frequently counterfeited parts, so give the care tag the closest look.

Pass: The labels agree with each other.

Fail: Labels that do not agree are a question for the seller.

  6. 6. Is the seller one of the brand's 4 official online stores?

A link to any other "official" shop is the first thing to doubt.

    What to look for

The 4 are isseymiyake.com for Asia, us.isseymiyake.com for the United States and Canada, and separate UK and EU sites.

Pass: Bought from the brand itself.

Fail: The brand cannot appraise anything bought elsewhere, so the label checks carry the weight.

What proves nothing

  • Where you found it: a second hand shop in Japan proves nothing on its own.
  • A valid product code on its own: a fake can copy a real one.
  • Press marks: the brand's care page says they are part of the garment, not a fault, because the piece is shaped before it is pleated.

If you bought it online, the seller's return window is your friend

Check the window today. Some are only a few days long.

  • Is StockX legit? On its Listings Marketplace the shoe is checked only if you pay for verification.
  • Is GOAT legit? Thirty days from receipt to report a pair that is fake or not as described. Used pairs are final sale.
  • Is Grailed legit? 3 calendar days from receipt to report a piece that is fake or not as described.
  • Is Poshmark legit? 72 hours from the delivery scan to open a case, then the seller is paid.
  • Is Depop legit? 30 days from purchase to report a problem. Its protection covers 3 countries, not Canada.
  • Is The RealReal legit? Ask for a return within 14 days of the shipment date. A bag without its Return Guarantee is final sale.
  • Is SSENSE legit? 30 calendar days from delivery to ask for a return.
  • Is Farfetch legit? 30 days to send it back, and a Canadian order lands duty paid.
  • Is Cettire legit? A return must reach it within 14 days of delivery.

If you already paid and it turns out fake, destroy it or return it to the seller, the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre says, then report it to local police and to the centre. Where that comes from.
