Sydonios, a French maker of mouth blown wine glasses, brought its first glasses to market in March 2018. There were two glasses and two decanters. Antoine Schvartz started it with Baptiste Larbre, a friend from Sciences Po. Schvartz had spent four years as a wine broker in Bordeaux, tasting dozens of wines a day. The pair spent a year reading research and talking to wine estate owners. Seven prototype glasses were tested with more than 100 wine professionals, and they made the two that changed the taste most. The glasses are matched to a wine's aromatic profile, not its colour, grape or appellation. Sydonios started with a glassmaking partner in Bohemia, in the Czech Republic. By 2024 all its glasses for France were made in Lille.
