About Chrome Hearts
Chrome Hearts started in Los Angeles in 1988 as a maker of leather motorcycle riding gear. Hypebeast names Richard Stark, John Bowman and Leonard Kamhout as its founders, and Kamhout, a silversmith, made the sterling silver grommets and other details on the first leather jackets.
The line now covers handmade jewellery in sterling silver, gold, platinum and precious stones, with clothing, eyewear, luggage, leather goods and furniture in exotic woods. Its pieces are made at the company's own factory in Hollywood, California, and the work is led by Richard Stark and his wife, Laurie Lynn Stark. In 2022 the two received the CFDA's Geoffrey Beene Lifetime Achievement Award in New York.
Its own stores are in Asia, the United States, London, Manchester, Paris, Cannes and St Barth, and their rules are strict. A store will not refund or replace a piece bought on the Chrome Hearts website, and the website will not refund a piece bought in a store.
