About Homme Plisse Issey Miyake

Homme Plissé Issey Miyake launched in 2013, built on the studio's garment pleating. The aim was everyday clothes for a wide range of people. Issey Miyake had set up the Miyake Design Studio in 1970, and Pleats Please, the earlier pleated line, showed its first collection as its own brand for spring summer 1994.
In garment pleating the piece is cut and sewn oversized first. Then it goes between layers of paper into a heat press, which shrinks it to size and sets the pleats. The V&A notes that the press leaves hundreds of metres of used paper behind.
The label says the clothes resist wrinkles, dry fast and are light, and that the even width of the pleats makes pieces easy to mix. Sizes are numbers: one jacket on the US site comes in sizes 2, 3 and 4, and its 182 cm model wears a 3. That jacket is 100% polyester, made in the Philippines, at 585 US dollars.
